Important points about The Nein that you need to know: The Nein is a band from Durham, North Carolina. There are four people in the group: Finn Cohen (guitar, vocals, sampler), Casey Burns (bass), Robert Biggers (drums, keyboard) and Dale Flattum (sampler, electronics.) Finn Cohen was in The White Octave. Robert Biggers was in The White Octave and is currently in Cold Sides. Casey Burns is doing the cover for an upcoming issue of DC Comics’ Batgirl. Dale Flattum was in Steel Pole Bathtub and Milk Cult. This self-titled EP is a preview for the full-length that will be released in March. If it were food it would be called an appetizer – an appetizer of strange loops, cacophonous drums and pop hooks that melt like small balls of garlic butter on the steaming tail of a lobster.

The Nein has toured extensively and will spend most of the fall and winter in dark, noisy rooms around the country – far away from their friends, families and the dark, noisy rooms they are used to. This is an adult band. As such, The Nein concern themselves with issues of adulthood. After all, it is an election year, and large portions of the world are warmed at night with smoking craters. This is a different kind of music, for a different kind of party.
