You might not be a Melvins fan if you don't have this., January 9, 2007
This review is from: Neither Here Nor There (Audio CD)
If I have one complaint, it's that the text is often very small and difficult to read for long periods of time (read: headache from squinting).
Apart from that, this is an amazing collection of art from artists who are clearly admired by (or friends of?) the Melvins and associates. Really, it's quite a catalogue of modern (alternative?) art.
The accompanying CD is good, a useful sampler for those not acquainted with the entire Melvins opus. Those who are so acquainted will enjoy a few remastered versions of older songs.
Well worth the price.

great book, relatively worthless cd..., May 22, 2008
This review is from: Neither Here Nor There (Audio CD)
i'm a big melvins fan, what else can i say? the book is outstanding- lots of cool art and interesting stories and whatnot. but as others have said, the text is often quite small. i understand why they did it, though- if they made the text any bigger, the book would be even bigger than it already is and probably more expensive!
as for the cd that accompanies, i am rather disappointed. honestly, i felt kind of robbed by it. as i mentioned above, i am a big melvins fan and as such, i don't need a "greatest hits" album from a band that essentially (in my opinion anyway) releases greatest hits albums with every release! i would have been much happier with getting a sticker, pin, patch, or simply a cd with one unreleased track instead of the cd that accompanied the book.
the cd just seemed like an ill conceived idea- i mean, if you are a big enough of a melvins fan to buy a weird a$$ book by them, then you probably already own most if not all of the material on the cd. on the other hand, if you were interested in getting into the melvins, i guess that "neither here nor there" (the cd) would be a decent introduction to them. however, you'd need to buy the book as well, and if you aren't a fan, you probably wouldn't want to shell out $30 (at least i think that's what it cost when it came out) for a band that you aren't sure about.
in the end, it's a cool idea. how many other bands have their own books? not many and most of those books are nowhere near as sweet as this one!
