Customer Reviews

I thought the dryer balls and fragrance sticks would be a nice addition.

The balls get stuck in the dryer causing the drum to be off algined, and we still have to dry more than one cycle.

I've noticed a lot less, actually no static at all when taking the clothes out of the dryer.

After using these for a couple of months they have started to disintegrate and we have noticed holes, wear marks on our clothes. It took a while to figure our what was causing the problem with the clothes wearing out. We love the fact that they are PVC free but don't want to have our clothes damaged. A lot of money for something that didn't work well for us. We're back to the 'blue' dryer balls. We never had a problem with those.

And by that I mean you may literally throw a shoe in the dryer. The same theory applies to how this would work.

So my wife bought these things, and I was skeptical. But I love to try things like this.

6 towels take 90 minutes to dry in my dryer.

Without Dryer Balls: 90 Minutes
With Dryer Balls: 85 Minutes
With Loafer: 75 Minutes.

To be fair, I have no idea how this theory is supposed to work theory wise, but I kind of get it.

So I tossed a size 11 1/2 Wide loafer in. Why not. basically the theory would be an object of somewhat hard/soft make0up to disrupt the normal flow of the round and round dryer motion.

I think the theory is to mix up the mix of articles in the dryer to get everything touching each other at different times. With some articles being dryer and hotter touching others that aren't.

So why not a shoe?

Without a doubt, the shoe is awesome for cutting times off the dry cycle. Probably the best dryer shoe I have ever bought.

I bought these balls because after purchasing a high efficiency dryer, we couldn't dry sheets or towels without them turning into tight, wet bound up cocoons in the machine. It was very frustrating. I bought the dryer balls in the PVC free version because my dryer gets hot and the last thing I want is to heat up plastic and have those things off gassing chemicals into our house. I use two at a time and toss them in with my sheets and towels. They work perfectly! As they bounce around, their weight keeps the sheets separated just enough to keep them from getting tangled up. I haven't noticed any fabric softening effect, wrinkle reducing, or static reducing effect, but I didn't purchase them for that purpose. I haven't used them with regular loads to see if they actually affect the drying time of clothing. I have been using them for over a month and they looks exactly the same as the day they arrived, so we're not having any trouble with the integrity of the materials used in their manufacturing.

Here's the one negative thing about them, which is inseparable from their action and purpose. They bounce strongly against the side of the drum and that results in a VERY loud noise. It always sounds as if the load is unbalanced or that someone is desperately trying to get out of the dryer. But this is exactly why they work, so it's part of the package and I'll take it. Nellie's PVC free dryer balls are not spherical shaped but oblong. Perhaps this is why they are so loud, but it's a fine trade off not to have potentially irritating plastic fumes in our home.

I bought these to help decrease drying time, and they have not performed well. The balls get stuck in the dryer causing the drum to be off algined, and we still have to dry more than one cycle. The dryer balls have also started to fall apart, and I have only used them 10-12 times! The nubs are attached to the laundry, not good when you have a baby who may eat them!

As Ms. Hilton says, "That's Hot!"

I LOVE these dryer balls... I've only had them a few weeks now, but they make my towels SO MUCH SOFTER in the dryer than all the smelly, lack-luster liquid or sheet softeners combined over the past 20 + years I've been doing my own laundry.

Where I live, it's hard to hang the wash outside for about 4-5 months a year, such as during the Fall, Winter and Spring. Between dust and dirt filled zephyrs, and wet, muddy dogs, and ice, snow and rain, it's just much easier to use the dryer.

But, I could never get my towels and wash cloths to feel as soft as when I first bought them. So, after much hemming and hawing, and a recommendation from a friend - and Amazon reviews - I broke down and bought these PVC Free dryer balls and I'm in love with the results.

If Nellie's Scent Sticks were available in any other fragrance than lavender, I might purchase some. But, for now, the soft towels are just "my cup of tea!"

WARNING! You may possibly not receive what's being advertised, here.

I ordered these (through Amazon) a while ago, and did receive the green, pvc-free dryer balls, as advertised. All good. BUT --

I place a second, and then a third order. These both arrived and turned out to be the BLUE dryer balls, Nellie's, yes, but NOT pvc-free (not the green). Though, the seller had stuck a white label on the boxes that says they were new, and pvc-free. (Liar!)

I called the number printed on the packaging, and the company spokesman verified that the green and the blue are not the same dryer balls.

So, both the two recent orders have been returned.

I am now kind of put off about buying any more of these at all, even the green ones... if I can ever manage to get those again.
