I purchased three different sprinklers in the hope of finding a good one...all from this manufacturer. For the price I was a little skeptical but all were well made - all metal construction - but this was by far the best of the lot. The distribution pattern mimics rain - very even and good coverage throughout without excessive soaking in one area and dry patches in others. Droplets rather than mist so less evaportation - important in Florida - but the droplets are very fine so not prone to harm even tender young seedlings. Another nice feature is the ability to daisy chain several together. I'm back to buy a few more - great price, excellent product. I'll try to update later to discuss durability but at least initially - very pleased.

This is a great sprinkler for the price. I haven't used it for its maximum range (35'x35'), but for areas of 20'-25' and smaller, I can say that it works great. It holds the square pattern quite well and spreads the water perfectly for lawn and turf. Well-built construction is also a plus.

Bought three of these, they do work very well but the aluminum shaft that holds the propeller wears out in about 6 - 8 weeks and it's pretty much useless after that .. not a good buy ..

It has a propeller (whirling vane) that spins to disperse water. Kind of gimmicky but the gimmick worked -- I bought it because it has a propeller.

This sprinkler also has two connections so it can be daisy chained with additional sprinklers to cover larger areas.

Coverage is rather uneven. The area within a three or four foot radius gets a LOT of water. The area outside that radius, not so much. And a small amount of water is aerosolized into a fog that drifts away and disappears, watering nothing. While I can't really confirm the sprinkle pattern is square as advertised. I think I can agree that it is squarish.

And there's a small pie-shaped gap in the spray pattern on mine -- in it I can walk almost right up to the sprinkler while it's running full blast and hardly get a drop of water on me.

All that said, did I mention it has a propeller? Which for some reason makes it fun and I use it anyway. And for that reason I'm going to go ahead and give it five stars. I might even get two or three more to daisy chain so the whole yard gets watered at once.

good, sturdy little sprinkler. it actually does spray in a square shape as advertised. appears to be sturdy construction, made in china!

Nelson has changed the design of this venerable and durable lawn sprinkler favorite. A plastic female coupling has been permanently attached to provide some ergonomic advantage. However, the oversize coupling now provides an unwanted opportunity for the connection to leak...and for the plastic to deteriorate and fail. The original design allowed a positive screw-on connection that was VERY predictable and allowed the sprinkler to provide dependable service for years.

Additionally, Nelson's new version now replaces the all metal cap on the male side...with plastic.

Unfortunately, the new version of this sprinkler (now with bright yellow plastic) is sure to disappoint gardeners that expected to get the traditional "ALL METAL" 50230 product.

This type of sprinkler is a real bird attractant. Maybe because it so closely resembles rain, far more than any other sprinkler I've used. I've seen hummingbirds, nuthatches, cardinals and doves drawn to it. The nuthatches sit on a stump in the path of the shower and really seem to relish it. Works well on the lawn, too, by the way.

This sprinkler does one thing and does it with flawless execution. If you have a square area you need to water, this really is the only sprinkler you will need.

Just got this today, but it seems to work very well in my fairly small yard...even dispersion of rain-sized drops. Seems pretty well built. I recommend it highly as long as you aren't trying to cover an enormous area.

This sprinkler did not hold up at all. The top came off, after only 2 uses. So the water just shot out from the top. I was very disappointed with this sprinkler.
