This coupling is definitely NOT BRASS. The product description is a falsehood. It is constructed of solid ALUMINUM with a brass coating. It scratches VERY EASILY, quickly revealing that the brass appearance is just a hoax. Oh, and it's made in China, too. The product description very clearly states that it is made of solid brass. What a lie.
BTW- it does work (at least for now... we'll see what happens when it oxidizes). Definitely not worth the money. I had considered the price justifiable because of the material cost of Brass, but now that I know it's aluminum, I definitely feel cheated. AMAZON, I WANT SOME OF MY MONEY BACK, PLEASE.

These all brass unit get all stars. I have used them for years and have never had an issue/problem with any of them. I also use them on my RV water connection. I leave the male end always connected to the RV water line input connection. I leave the female connected to the water hose I use to connect to the RV park water faucet. To protect the RV male connection when not in use, I adapted an extra Nelson Brass Hose 'female' Quick Connector end with a cap screwed into it to keep the connection clean. Zero leaking connections and this makes it far easier hook-up to the RV park water.
I tried cheaper units and some of the plastic (?) rubber (?) units. Garbage. These are 100% quality and you can not beat the price.

These used to be excellent quick connects but now the base of these is such that they do not form a seal when put on the end of a hose with a quality washer (seal). The water leakes out of the quick connect. I tried it on several different hoses with different washers and they still resulted in water leaking out all over. I bought the Gilmour brass quick connects and they work great.

These are great. Been using for years and everyone I've seen is solid brass. I bought the 2 male set because I have quick connect sets (M&F) on all hoses but have more nozzles and sprinklers but that what makes these great can switch out very easily. Another great thing, I use plunger's tape on the threads and tighten down so no leaks but that stops the water wand from being able to swivel, with quick connects it swivels between M&F parts so there's even an advantage if you never switch out the hose end.

I am using these with Nelson 50336 Brass Hose Quick Connectors Set, Male and Female. These connectors work very well and greatly simplify switching between hose attachments. They are high quality brass fittings and worth the few extra dollars above the cheap plastic ones. I wish I had bought these years ago!

Favorite Hose Quick Disconnects,

This review is from: Nelson 50335 Brass Hose Quick Connectors, Male, 2-Pack (Lawn & Patio)
I have been using the Nelson hose quick disconnects for about a decade and am a huge fan of the product. I've not had any issues with leakage from the quick disconnect joint and the brass is sturdy enough to withstand the abuse I have thrown at it. The product is durable and withstands weathering outside without any trouble.
The only negative I have experienced is that the ball bearings that hold the two halves together can occasionally become stuck making it difficult to insert however that's really only been an issue since we moved to a house with well water. A couple of taps loosen them up and it mates well after that.

These work quite well. I've had them for a full season now, and they don't leak, won't break like plastic, and seem indestructible. I've replaced all my plastic quick-disconnects.

Over the years I have tried many different quick release setups for hose ends and I have found this brass connection to be the best by far, I highly recommend them to anyone that would like the ease of removing different hose ends easily

This is a perfect product. I have been using them for a couple of years now and have not had a single problem. I must own over a dozen or so. It is a very high quality and stands up to the outdoor environment very well. I have left them outside over the NY winter without any problems. They don't leak and operate flawlessly.
Of note, if this matters to you, they create a swivel joint that can be a pro or a con depending on the use. For my garden sprinkler, it is a pro because it prevents kinks in the hose. For my sprayer nozzle it is a con, because you need to screw the nozzle to open or close it - I need to be sure to hold the nozzle in the right place to operate it. Overall, I absolutely love this product and keep buying more for every new hose accessory I buy. Amazon sells a male/female set or a set of two males. The female end is for the spigot or end of the hose. The male end fits into your sprinkler, nozzle, or sprayer. |
