Book Description

December 2, 1999
Can a 400 year-old manuscript be the key to saving the world? CIA listening posts have detected evidence of an extraordinary operation by cosmonauts of the resurgent and aggressive Russian regime - a plan to deflect a giant asteroid into a collision course with the United States. The result would be unimaginable devastation, and the West's top astrophysicists are secretly assembled to try and find a way of averting total disaster. But the key to finding the asteroid is an incredible one - its course was predicted in an obscure Renaissance manuscript, the only copy of which has now gone mysteriously missing...

5.0 out of 5 stars Again, excellent, October 5, 2004

I am reading Dr. Napier's books in a weird order. Revealation first, then Shattered Icon then Nemesis. Nemesis is exceedingly entertaining not to mention very very accurate. From the point of view of both a Sci-fi/Mystery reader as well as a person with a strong science background, it is a perfect book to suck away a week of evenings!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Yarn, May 13, 2003

I like this book, as it is written more as a political thriller than straight science fiction. The premise - that a killer asteroid is on its way, and that the US/Europeans only have a few days to find it before it hits - is blended with standard cold war "the Russians are monsters" stuff. But the tale is well written and the ending is intriguing, if slightly disatisfying.

Still, it was good enough to convince me to buy his next book. We'll have to wait and see how that works out.
