5.0 out of 5 stars I AM THE EX-WIFE OF PAUL BRUCE
Of course I have read his book. Also, knew some of his fellow S.A.S. friends. DO NOT listen to the RUBBISH of some reviewers who only knew half the story. Like anyone else who is controversial, there are many who have an investment in putting his true story down. I speak unbiasedly about Paul, as we are divorced and I'm married again.

But this man has not lied...

QUOTE: "THE NEMESIS FILE: A TRUE STORY OF AN EXECUTION SQUAD

The Royal Ulster Constabulary has for some time been making enquiries into alleged serious criminal offences, primarily as a result of allegations made in the book "The Nemisis File: the true story of an Execution Squad" which is published by Blake Publishing.

As part of our continuing enquiries, and having regard to the seriousness of the allegations made in the book, the book's author was arrested by RUC officers under the Prevention of Terrorism Act and was interviewed at Castlereagh Police Station, Belfast.

Enquiries into the matter have now been completed and we are satisfied that the allegations contained in the book are not true in fact or substance and this includes an assertion that the author was at some time a member of the Special Air Services Regiment. The RUC is satisfied that the author has not been concerned, either directly or indirectly, in the commission of any serious criminal offence whilst serving in the Province during the period February _ June 1972 when he served as a vehicle mechanic with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. The RUC considers the book "The Nemesis File: the true story of an Execution Squad" as a work of fiction and accordingly the investigation is now closed". UNQUOTE

5.0 out of 5 stars I AM THE EX-WIFE OF PAUL BRUCE, January 4, 2006
This review is from: The Nemesis File: The True Story of an Sas Execution Squad (Hardcover)

But this man has not lied. He was out the army and passed the time of the silence word keeping. The Government heard of him exposing them and so they tried to quiet him. Paul was not treated very well and accidently found himself lying on floors and grounds, He does not take to threats and so the story came out. He was arrested, for them to obtain his written apology which came out in a newspaper, his family would have suffered otherwise.

Luckily some other S.A.S. from British Execution Squads, had been speaking to a Colonel, who wrote his review on the back cover of the second publication. Paul Bruce was vindicated and acclaimed one of the bravest men ever. Which of course he was, the deal he did with the publisher was criminal as the percentage of such a best selling book, has been extremely low. I even hawked it around booksellers and helped for extra sales.

Because of the way Paul had been treated by the British Army and the Government, he began to drink very heavily again. Paul was angry that he had written a book which could have cost him his life, and still no help with the trauma he suffered for doing the nasty jobs. No thank you, housing, pension, or mental help.Rehab he got for himself eventually, but he was already ruined.

Paul is killing himself with drink and he does not care. He's been through hell and can not handle life. His children, boy and a girl, suffer from seeing their father like this. I think Paul Bruce deserved something for trying to stop the lies and killings in Ireland. He may not have developed his self-destruct button.

The book was not well written, mistakes and sentences running to long. But it was the typist at the publisher who wrote it whilst Paul was talking the story to him. This man is mentioned on the book and got good remuneration for it too. As much as Paul got. What do you think of that. And Paul can not take the book and have that movie made, as John Blake has kept all the rights for ever. Paul found even at the end his trust was misplaced. Story of his life.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun read but total (...), December 6, 2001

Bruce was arrested by N. Ireland police and charged with "obstructing police" after they investigated his claims and found
absolutly no evidence to support them. But give him credit, he wrote a great yarn. Shame on all you left wing, anti gov. types that fell for it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Fantasy, October 8, 2001

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Nemesis File: The True Story of an Sas Execution Squad (Hardcover)
A ridiculous book by a member of the Engineers corps in the British Army who had aspirations to be better than he was so invented it. Laughed off even by Sinn Fein as fantasy. None of the victims are properly identified. No-one in the real world is unaccounted for. None of the alleged burial sites have yielded any evidence despite them still being there and available to anyone to view. A book that anyone could write to make some money if they have the intellectual dishonesty to do so.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Book, March 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I read this in a few days. It took a long tome to reach me since it shipped from the UK. In my opinion it is very plausible....I am an US Army vet and have served both in Afghanistan and Iraq....I wasn't aware of anything like this going on there but it would not surprise me to learn the Brits were doing this in Northern Ireland back in the day....plus it was compartmentalized so not everyone knew the whole deal...these guys who were the actual shooters probably knew the most....hence the reason why they were a such a small group....killing people in combat is one thing, assassinations are another....this man obviously was not a sociopath so it got to him in a big bad way....this guy is brave...nobody who was part of something like this would want to tell anyone about it especially because you could get in big trouble....unless of course the government doesn't want to acknowledge it so it appears he is off the legal hook.....fighting the demons is another....the comments by Captain Holroyd are also compelling where he says he spoke to guys involved in this system who confirmed it was true....

1.0 out of 5 stars Cobblers, January 19, 2011
This review is from: The Nemesis File: The True Story of an Sas Execution Squad (Hardcover)
I can't help noticing that with the exception of 'Paul Bruce's ex-wife, the only reviewers who've given this book a favourable review are Yanks. Sorry guys, but you know less about the history of the conflict in NI than I do about quantum physics. That means you know less than ****-all.

Other reviewers have commented on PB's real career as a REME mechanic, which included a stint fixing Army rovers in NI between February and June 1972. Not a very glamorous job, but honourable, and had he not written this unadulterated **** he'd be worthy of respect. Mrs Bruce (ex) has mentioned his 'SAS friends'. If he has any (which he does not), why have none of them come forward to corroborate his story?

Aside from the fact that Bruce confessed he'd made the whole story up in August 1996, you've also got to bear in mind that Sinn Fein issued a statement describing his tale as 'outlandish'. If you consider the fact that the Irish Republicans have never been shy of seizing on any story which paints the Brits as murdering swine, that should speak volumes about the veracity of this account.

I do not have the space to list every single howler in this so-called 'memoir', but one will suffice. When 'Bruce' gives the six-figure grid references for the supposed burial sites for the Nemesis Squad's victims, he gets them in the wrong order, giving Northings first and Eastings second. This supposedly elite special forces hero has worse map-reading skills than a cub scout.

Do not buy this book, unless you've got money to burn, and you have a sick sense of humour.

This book is a pile of pants. The closest Paul Bruce ever got to seeing action was when he fixed army cars in N.Ireland. The publishers should be embarrassed for going to print with such a poor book which is full of lies.

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable - but totally Fiction, March 26, 2000
By
This review is from: The Nemesis File: The True Story of an Sas Execution Squad (Hardcover)
Being an avid reader of many an SAS book I have to admit that that this book gripped me from start to finish. Why only 3 stars then? Well, I dont believe for one minute that this was a true story and is nothing more than fictional action! A great read nonetheless, this books grips you from beginning to end - how true it is of life in N.Ireland I coudn't say, but if you like a good SAS fictional action read then you'll enjoy this - but if you're looking for a book to add to your collection of SAS masterpeices, then i'm afraid you should give it a miss.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is bot a true story, December 4, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Nemesis File: The True Story of an Sas Execution Squad (Hardcover)
The author of this book never was an SAS trooper, according to the press. He wrote this book under false pretentions. What his (or those behind him) motives are for doing this, can only be guessed, but this book is fraud and not worth the time, because it pretends to be an account of real-life experiences. If this had just been presented as the piece of fiction it might have been more interesting.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nothing but a giant lie..., December 27, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Nemesis File: The True Story of an Sas Execution Squad (Hardcover)
Don't waste your time buying this book. I don't know what ties the author/publisher has with Northern Ireland or the IRA but this book is nothing but cheap IRA propaganda. The IRA have always tried to make out the SAS are nothing more than hit teams - out to execute civilians. What a load of rubbish! The story in this book never happenned. Northern Ireland is full of murderers - both Catholic AND Protestant. The SAS is not among them.
