5.0 out of 5 stars Grip Inc. Shines Through...
Ever since I heard Slayer's 'Hell Awaits' I was hooked. But when I found out that drummer Dave Lombardo left. I was really mad, but at the same time eager to listen to his new project. Grip Inc.'s 'Nemesis' is by far their strongest release of their career. Grip Inc. blends tradition thrash, with modern death and the combination is just suberb. Gus Chamber's vocals have...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as Slayer but...
Good nontheless.

Very similar to Slayer actually in some respects, I don't know why anyone would say this is not. Dave Lombardo does a great job on drums (as usual), the guitarist is good too, and the singer's not bad either.

Actually, Gus Chambers sounds a lot like Tom Araya on some tracks.

I was lucky enough to find this CD at a second hand place. I only...

Gus Chamber's vocals have true feeling in them, and you can feel that through out the album. "War Between One" is the best track on the record. The lyrics rock, the vocals are perfect, the guitar and bass just hit hard, and ya' know the drums are getting their use. The seond best song on the album is "Rusty Nail", it kind of reminds me of old school Slayer, but just a little bit harder. Another standout track is "Myth Or Man". It is hard to find a song like that, with so much emotion on most thrash releases. To sum it all up, Grip Inc. is one of the best bands out there. They have yet to release a bad album, so don't waste any time. Pick this one up right away...

5.0 out of 5 stars bLuDgEoNeD by Lombardo!, October 22, 2001
This review is from: Nemesis (Audio CD)
The intro to Liar starts out similar but not like the song Ostracized did on the album Power of Inner Strength, and then it hits you like a bottle upside your head-hard. Rythmic pounding with guitar ripping waves of metal overpower Your senses like a welcomed wall of sound (metal shock is revealed), and there is still the rest of the album. I had a friend tell me to check these guys out, and now I have all three GRIP INC albums to date! IT IS NOT LIKE ANY SLAYER ALBUM, but I did like some of their music. This band has a different style entirely!
Lombardo and his crew are hopefully going to be around for a while, but with all the projects Lombardo has delved himself into.....who knows!

5.0 out of 5 stars Grip's best, April 6, 2001

This is Grip's second (and best) album. It showed that Dave Lombardo could keep a steady band after slayer. This album is quite diffrent to Slayer. People always compare Grip to Slayer, but you can't. They diffrent syles of music. Nemesis has some of the most original beats and could easily be copared to bands like Meshuggah. This is probably dave's best drumwork since South of Heaven with Slayer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ex-Slayer drummer Lombardo smokes on Grip's 2nd album, September 7, 1998
This review is from: Nemesis (Audio CD)
This CD just flat out slays, as did Grip Inc.'s first album, "Power of Inner Strength". However, the band does not seem comfortable with cranking out a duplicate album. There is a great deal of progression forward on this album.

There is an increase in the amount of instrumentals used on this album. There are several stretches where the band goes several minutes and just lets their instruments do the talking.

When Gus Chambers does talk, you'd better listen. The vocals on this album are intense, meaningful, and thought provoking.

The guitar work by Waldemar Sorchyta is unmatched. As one could expect, the drumming of Dave Lombardo is second to none.

A couple of stand-out tracks on this album include the blistering "War Between One" and the furious "Myth or Man".

This is not to say the other tracks aren't as good. Every single one is amazing in its own right.

This album flows very well and should be a part of anyone's collection., not just the metalhead. All I can say is "When's the next album coming out?" and "When are they touring next?"

I was lucky enough to find this CD at a second hand place. I only listened to two of the songs on the album before buying it, I figured Lombardo's drumming alone would make this a great album.

Worth a listen. Fav. song on the album: Pathetic Liar

5.0 out of 5 stars Grip Inc. Pounds Their Nemesis' Into The Ground, January 10, 2000
This review is from: Nemesis (Audio CD)
Ah yes,its time once again for the arrival of another Grip Inc. album. Many viewed the first album as sort of a novelty(at least until they actually heard it) Nemesis proves that this band aint gonna stop.Gus Chambers' awesome vocals can be soothing and also deadly.Waldermar's awesome guitar work and production makes this album sound so smooth. And of course drum-god Dave Lombardo pounds his skins oh so ellagantly.Together this is one lethal combination.Dont listen to this band if ya got heart problems or are pregnant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Album; A perfect CD for any hard metal lover., October 23, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Nemesis (Audio CD)
I initially picked up the promo for this album just because of the cover art. When I realized that Dave Lombardo (drummer for Slayer) had organized the band, I decided I had buy it. Litte did I realize that I was in for such a great treat. I played the album again and again trying to find, as always, my favorite tracks. No Luck. They were all awesome. I suppose I've now labelled my favorite tracks as # 1 and #s 6-11. Yes, the last five are a beautiful blend of hard core guitars, radically flawless drumning and dissonent keyboards. A must-buy for any true hard-core music lover.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS A MASTERPIECE, July 17, 2011
This review is from: Nemesis (Audio CD)
This is an amazing album. The adrenaline is high the sound is really great and the melodies are fantastic. All the songs are very rhythmic and this is in my opinion their best album. Its not like Slayer is a little bit different and the result is excellent. A must for thrash and heavy metal fans. Dave Lombardo shows his magic once again. A superb work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Grip Inc. CD, July 6, 2009
This review is from: Nemesis (Audio CD)
This is my favorite Grip Inc. title , Gus Chambers is at his best I think with songs like the first cut ' Pathetic Liar ' , 'Empress (of Rancor)' and 'Scream at the Sky ' these guys really showcase their talents. With Dave Lombardo on sticks and Gus Chambers' vocals this CD is well put together and my pick as one you should check out if you've never bought any Grip Inc before.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sounds like Slayer? Are you deaf?, May 9, 2007
This review is from: Nemesis (Audio CD)
I have been listening to Slayer since '85 and those of you who think this is a Slayer ripoff must be smokin instead of listenin. The two sounds are completely different. The guitar work is better, no Kerry bending the same string for way to long. Dave shines as the best metal drummer of all time, maybe tied with Vinnie, but Dave was doin it first. The vocals are strong, almost as good as Slayer but in a different realm to be sure. For their second album it is as tight as anything I have heard before. Dave's drums make the show. Turn it up and feel the power. This is power metal at it's best. Slayer is as good today as they were the first time I saw them in '85, it shows their strength and thier passion for their music. They (thank god) never followed the scene, they are the scene today as much as they were back then, Grip is leading the way as well, play on Dave we love ya,
