Review

With renewed interest in electronic music composition in the early 21st Century (thanks in no small part to the recent successes of Daft Punk's score for TRON LEGACY and Trent Reznor's work on THE SOCIAL NETWORK), it is only fitting for eyes and ears to be on the alert for the next power in digital audio creativity. We may very well have found it in PTEC Dojo - a two-man, multi-instrumental operation whose soundscape-generating skills are arguably more expressive than the aforementioned Daft Punk and more sophisticated than Mr. Reznor. NEMESIS plays like a diverse demonstration compilation, as though offering a tasting menu of what PTEC Dojo can bring to the screen. The eclectic nature and technical skill displayed in these tracks gives rise to a plethora of genre-transcending cues and emotional experiences. One minute, they will have you speeding down the highway in a froth-mouthed, road rage frenzy, and in the next, they will have you cowered in a dark corner with a candle evaluating your purpose in this existence. It is not the droning, icy ambience of Tangerine Dream, nor is it the brain-splintering organized chaos of Skinny Puppy. The songwriting is so focused and razor-sharp that you find yourself wondering why this group's name is not mentioned habitually in mainstream circles. In one passing listen of NEMESIS, you can detect influences by John Powell, Brad Fiedel, Wendy Carlos, Vangelis, Moby, Rammstein, Marilyn Manson, Front Line Assembly, The Chemical Brothers. In that sense, the album is almost like a tribute to every musician who has made a name for himself embracing the 0's and 1's. PTEC Dojo easily gets my vote to score the TOTAL RECALL remake or the next TRON movie, for there are no doubts that whatever will manifest will be nothing short of electronic genius. -- Mark Morton - musicemissions.com April 25, 2011

Each one of these songs are like delicious vampire fluids dropping on me. So much drama... so intense. The title track is like a roller coaster ride... I am scared and excited at the same time. This group rocks!!! I am so happy to have found them.
