Done it again!,
This review is from: Nemesis (Resident Evil #5) (Mass Market Paperback)
SD Perry has done it again, in style! First I was sceptical of this book thinking that it might not be able to top the other excellent books in the series. After ordering and reading the first 4 books of the Resident Evil series, I completely fell in love with the books! None of the suspense from the game is missed and even more things are revealed which you cannot see in the game! In Resident Evil: Nemesis, the excellence of the author still continues. This time Jill Valentine is fighting off the zombies once again in Raccoon City. It is much different because the incredibly strong Nemesis is after her, with vengeance! Perry's style really keeps you going and makes you want to read more and more. The suspense really adds to the storyline and makes you want to read on. Hard-core Resident Evil fans must own this book. Worth all the money!

S.D. Perry is the greatest author,

This review is from: Nemesis (Resident Evil #5) (Mass Market Paperback)
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis was a great game. At my age, I'm always playing Resident Evil games--I've beaten 2 and 3, and the new game Survivor, but haven't beaten 1 because it's a bit hard in my opinion, and I don't like renting it. I own Resident Evil 2, but I've borrowed Resident Evil 3 from my friend many times, and also rented it from Blockbuster. It's a really, really fun game. S.D. Perry keeps me from jumping reading this book (jumping out of fright). She is truly a great author, I don't know how she does it! But I hope she novelizes Resident Evil-Survivor, Code Veronica, and the game before Resident Evil 1--Resident Evil: Zero. Also, check out her original novels, Caliban Cove & Underworld, which are both fantastic books that I also own! Also check out The Umbrella Conspiracy & The City of the Dead--they're awesome novelizations of RE 1 + 2! You rule, S.D. Perry! Keep writing books! I highly reccommend this book for any horror fans.

Yet another tense escape from Raccoon City.,

This review is from: Nemesis (Resident Evil #5) (Mass Market Paperback)
Raccoon City has fallen to the T-Virus and former STARS (Special Tactics And Rescue Squad) member Jill Valentine is trying to get out alive and uninfected. The Umbrella Corporation has other plans...
This novelization of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis follows the game narrative quite well and S.D. Perry fleshes out the character backgrounds/motivations nicely. It is not the experience of the game, but it is a fun read. Recommended.

S.D Perry sticks to Resident evil !,

I was very lucky to have read the new Resident evil book before it came out and i must say she stuck to the plot quite well. After reading her Resident evil underworld story she let me down with poor excuse for characters and a very complexed plot that had very little to do with the Resident evil saga. If u have read all of her RE books u know that very few monsters came out in all her four stories because all of the stories were more detail and hardly no accion. In Resident evil nemisis she sticks with her detailed style and she has the characters interact a lot more with the monsters giving the book a great read.I'm a very strong critic and for me to give a book a 5 rating it has to be a fast , smart, suspence triller. A lot of people ask me if Resident evils all accion and no dialog? I always tell them how much dialog could u have in a city infested with zombies? She did a great job on her novels and i think we should give her the credit because not every author can make a video game into a 5 book mini series and have people screaming for more. Even if we know the plot of the story because you played the game its still fun to read and it will have you wanting more just like a lot of people waiting for this long a waited novel.

This book takes place at the same time as Resident Evil part 2 or "The City of the Dead". In this book you follow Jill Valentine on a different side of Raccoon City. But she has more troubles than Chris and Claire. She is being chased by the Nemisis, or the STARS eater. Throughout this book you will find yourself looking around the corners in your own house and praying to god that a huge half dead thing isnt going to jump through your wall. This is a good book.

Mrs. Perry has done it again. Given the rather minimal plot line of Resident Evil: Nemesis game, she has turned it into a rich narrative, with a beautifully developed villain that you (pardon the cliché) love to hate. But then, could we expect any less?As with all the other Resident Evil novelizations, Mrs. Perry has held mostly true to the plot of the game. Some of the puzzles are skipped, but they would be annoying to describe and add needless complication to the plot (water sample puzzle, anyone? Over 800 possible combinations! And there's no clues! I spend 3 hours on that damn puzzle! AHHHHHHH!) and there is the strange but smooth insertion of the character of Mr. Trent into the background of the tale. It was nice to finally see someone offer up a decent theory to the Nemesis, and its origins. The game said nothing about what it was supposed to be. While playing the game the closest I could figure it was a Tyrant that had a run-in with a G-Virus carrier, maybe Birkin himself. One of the problems with the game was that it didn't really make sense in the game that after you shot down this belligerent giant (who was trying to hunt you down and shove a tentacle thing into your mouth and out the back of your head) you ran from his unconscious body. The smart thing to do against Nemesis would be to find some gasoline or some other flammable substance and set Nemesis's body on fire after knocking him out. However, the whole flee-from-the-downed-monster-without-finishing-him-off thing is rationally explained away by Mrs. Perry's superior story-telling powers. Yay! Remember: he twitched, and Jill lost her nerve. Yup. Niccolai was THE bad guy. Oh joy! His motivation was unclear in the game. All you knew was a little about this "watchdog" program and that Niccolai had set himself up to kill all the other watchdogs and steal their "data," whatever that happened to be. Mrs. Perry gave him a radiant psychotic personality, just as she has with all the other Resident Evil villains. In short, he's a psychotic control freak. And for those of you that didn't read the footnote thingy about how the events didn't match up, don't complain. ...The Resident Evil 2 novelization was written long, LONG (actually not that long but who cares) before Resident Evil: Nemesis was released, so Mrs. Perry couldn't have known about Jill staying in Raccoon. Now what I would have really appreciated was SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAINING THE ORIGIN OF THAT BLOOD-SPLATTERED BAZOOKA THAT NEMESIS IS LUGGING AROUND! PLEASE! WHERE DID HE GET IT FROM, AND WHERE DOES HE KEEP IT WHEN HE'S KILLING BRAD? AND DURING THAT PART ON THE CLOCK TOWER WHEN YOU ELECTRECUTE HIM AND HE FALLS OFF HE'S NOT CARRYING THE LAUNCHER BUT LATER HE SHOOTS THE HELICOPTER DOWN WITH IT! WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN? AHHHHHH! *SOB* *SOB* Anyway I really enjoyed reading the book and playing the game, yadda, yadda, and um... Oh, yeah. Stars.

THE GAME GOOD! THE BOOK BETTER!,
By Anthony S. (puerto rico) - See all my reviews

Resident evil is a very good game, with an exelent group of characters and a never ending plot. It was fun to see how SD Perry handled the complexed plot and strange enviorment. She did so good that she ended up doing a five part mini series that could go on for a life time. In Resident evil Nemisis, SD Perry brings you back to the horror in raccon city. Jill is stuck in a town infested with the walking dead, the strange brain sucking insects, nasty spiders, gigantic worms and the worst of them all the stalking tyrant simply codenamed the "Nemisis" of course theres more horror lurking in the darkness of Raccon city but i just named some of the monsters. Mean while a nother hero faces a horrible battle with zombies as he watches all his friends die in a battle that ends in a massacre his name Carlos. But on the other hand we have a bad guy who works for umbrella named Nicoli who makes Jill and Carlos escape impossible. They team up not only to escape the terror that lies in Raccon city but they must survive the killing machine Nemisis after them. The story unraveles very quickly and terrible things start happening to Jill and Carlos. Jill defeates almost being infected and Carlos escapes nearly getting blowned away in a explotion at a hospital. After endless encounters with Nicoli and the Nemisis Jill and Carlos finally defeat them and escape whats left of Raccon city. Soon the city explodes and Raccon city is erased from the map. And thats just some of the things our heroes encounter.Buy this book you wont be unsatisfied!

This is a great edition in the Resident Evil series. The book really goes into detail on Jill Valentine's adventure at the height of the T-Virus outbreak in Racoon City. An added bonus is the background given on supporting cast members, Carlos and Nicolai. I would definitely recommend this to any fan of the Resident Evil storyline.

Salvation for those of us that just need more!,
This review is from: Nemesis (Resident Evil #5) (Mass Market Paperback)
S.D. Perry has once again answered our call in her 5th Resident Evil story. If you're like me (a sick and twisted individual that was disappointed by the lack of story in every game) you won't be able to set this one down. In all of her Resident Evil books she has taken a story that we all know from the games and expands on it. She writes what we can only imagine is going on during those annoying plot holes. This book delivers just like the previous 4, giving an incredible game new life with each word written. In my opinion, this is one of the best out of all 5. It not only goes into detail about the characters and events in the game, but also the elusive Mr. Trent that seems to know everything about every Umbrella created crisis. So what are you waiting for? Turn off all the lights, light a candle and don't forget a spare change of pants!

Resident Evil Nemesis rocks,

This review is from: Nemesis (Resident Evil #5) (Mass Market Paperback)
So now we finally get to the book that i have been waiting for ages to come out. And to say that i researved this thing iam real glad to see that this is the best of the series so far. I think this book is a real showcase for how good S.D Perry really is. Anyhow back to the book the story is quite simple Jill Valentine (Yes all you annoracks out there she was in the firs book) is trapped in Racoon city and must try and escape while been chased by a 10ft tyrant wearing a leather jacket and sporting a rocket launcher so the odds are kind of against her. Once more though Jill find help in Carlos Oliveiara who is some kind of south American mercenary. What about this book is that it actually adds a couple of new plot twists to Resident Evil 3 the game. For instance Nicholai i think is a much stronger characther in this than he is in the game. While you know what will happen in the end its still the best of the bunch so far and really highlights how good this series is. Rollo on Code Veronica
