Product Description

Unlike conventional mummy shapes, the new Spoon Shape backpacking sleeping bags give you extra space where it matters most. Wide in the shoulders, the bag tapers down to the hips then gently flares back out to allow room for your knees to naturally bend and shift throughout the night. Details like the tuckable Blanket Fold and a Waterproof/Breathable footbox elevate comfort and protection for adventures near or far.

Soft and bright lining gives you a cozy interior for a restful night's sleep. Unique baffling curves to the shape of your sleeping body. For colder nights, tuck in the Blanket Fold for added warmth and comfort. Waterproof/Breathable footbox protects your bag from condensation on tent walls. Shell fabric: 15D nylon ripstop with DWR. Footbox fabric: 15D OSMO DTW/B + DWR. Lining fabric: 30D nylon taffeta. Includes cotton storage bag and roll top compression sack. Zipper on left.

I'm going to put 4 stars because I have only been on two trips with it, so far and neither outing was below 50 degrees. However, I give the hour-glass shape a 5 star rating for comfort. The only mark against it is that the stuff stack that came with it is not a compression sack. I used my own 20-liter compression sack to get into my backpack. I was surprised that the bag did not compress smaller than my old, synthetic bag. Overall, I give this bag pretty high marks for design. I will be interested in how it performs in weather closer to freezing.

I can’t sleep in a mummy bag so I just always dealt with the extra weight of my 4 + lb rectangular bag. This is nice. 2lbs, and plenty of room to bend my knees, sleep on my side, and toss and turn. So far I have slept comfortably in 40f weather with only underwear on. I would trust it down to its rating with thermals, but I have not done so yet. The pillow pocket, and the little blanket flap thing are nice touches.

I returned recently from a backpacking trip at Los Andes, Venezuela. Slept 3 nights at 13,500 feet below 30 F°, and these sleeping bags performed excellent. My Nemo Nocturne and my girlfriend’s Rhapsody, kept us warm and comfortable. I used my base layer and insulated jacket to extend its temperature rating as needed, overall, I’m very pleased. I’m giving it a 4 instead of 5 because some feathers leaked, but not a big deal.
