This is INCREDIBLE!,

This review is from: Nemo Pt.1 (Audio CD)
I'm a fairly new fan of Nightwish. Aside from this I only own the European version of 'Oceanborn', which has quickly become one of the 10 most cherished albums in my large collection of 600+ CDs. I've been wanting to delve further into their catologue of music for quite some time now but I always feared nothing would live up to my rather high expectations. This, however, has proven me wrong! "Nemo" is the first single for their upcoming album, 'Once', and while it's a teaser that makes you want to hear more, it's full of promising material. Tarja's voice is as gorgeous as ever and the music here is simply amazing! "Planet Hell" starts out with dramatic choral singing that eventually leads into some heavy progressive rock beats with both male and female vocals. The real highlight for me, though, would have to be the exclusive "White Night Fantasy", which is essential for Nightwish fans who particularly love their passionate ballads. It's a beautiful song with sweet, soaring vocals and it's a non-album track so fans must get this, if only for that! Also, I noticed there to be a lot more orchestration than usual here which adds a really nice touch to the melodies. There's even an orchestral version of "Nemo" that substitutes the pounding guitars and drums for lush strings instead. I especially appreciate how the lyrics for "Nemo" and "Planet Hell" are included for that's a rare thing to find in singles.
If this was meant to entice listeners to check out their new album than it has been a success! I'm dying to hear 'Once' now...

Nightwish: better than ever,
By
This review is from: Nemo Pt.1 (Audio CD)
There seems to be no limits in Tuomas Holopainen's musical imagination. The first single of their new "Once" album, Nemo, is classic Nightwish - about a perfect rock song with all the power and beauty one can wish for. Fortunately, this in only beginning... The album is just as good, about as good as melodic hard rock/metal/music gets. If you liked "Nemo", be sure to buy "Once" as soon as you can. There are very few rock bands in the world who can rival Nightwish these days. It's beyond metal, gothic rock, or any genre. They do whatever they wish to, from acoustic indian ballads or Finnish folk tunes to deepest, toughest metal to rock your mind. And it works - shivers one's spine...

- Dont Read Bad Reviews!!! Those guys are NOT FANS!!!! Nemo! , its the first brand new single from NIGHTWISH , In this Single CD you get, Nemo - Radio Edit Version if Im not mistaken, Planet Hell - A song from the album, a duet between Tarja and Marcos ( kinda like Century Child's Dead To The World ) an amazing song with really bombastic choirs and orchestra, White Night Fantasy - This is a non- album track, this song its something 100% different , Tarja's voice its very weird on this song, they wanted to do something different , they did , But the results of this song isnt actually the greatest thing...... Nemo ( Orchestra Version )- its the orchestra version of NEMO , I really liked it , but the normal rock version its definetly BETTER!!! and last , you get the Studio Footage video!!!!! Nightwish its definetly the best band out there!!!! Once again , dont read bad reviews , those guys just want to mess up everything and they dont know Nightwish....

All heavy metal should be like this,

I was introduced to Nightwish in Norway last May where they were playing the Nemo video in rotation on their music channel. I was blown away. Picked up this 4 track CD to check out more. The cross between Wagnerian style vocals, heavy metal guitar licks, and industrial like keyboards is awesome. I'm not sure I would even classify this as strictly heavy metal, though it has the pounding, kicking drive on Nemo and Planet Hell, it has musical qualities that take it a notch beyond. The cover of the CD said the full album was due out by now and I came looking for that. Because I need more. Great stuff.

A fish called 'Nemo',

I can now forgive Nightwish for the horror that was 'Century Child' as, according to them, it was an experiment to help them reach this point. And what a great point it is. Nemo is very different to their other work because it is much more orchestral and less rock. You've probably heard this about Century Child too but the thing that sepearates this from Century Child is that Nemo is actually good. CC was bad because it seemed as thought Tarja had almost lost her voice and was drowned out by the male vocals. In Nemo, she finds her voice again and she sounds more elegant that ever before.

"Nemo" is the first single from Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish's album Once. The song rocketed to the top of the charts in several European countries and has prove to be one of the band's most popular songs to date. In particular, the song strongly featured the talents of the London Symphony Philharmonic, which take the symphonic aspect of Nightwish's music to a completely new and unprecidented level. The band's Once album, along with "Nemo," signified a stronger move toward more epic, music soundtrack-like music that more strongly emphasized the orchestral sections.
"Nemo" is an amazing song, beginning with just a simple piano line, it quickly builds with guitars, orchestral arrangements with heavy strings, drums and, of course, Tarja's signature vocals. The drama is there, the emotion and the power commonly associated with Nightwish's music. I particularly like how this song builds into a climax and has several different levels, ranging from simple piano to complex orchestral arrangements. "Planet Hell," from Once is also included here. One of the most powerful songs on the album, "Planet Hell" features high-octane guitar riffs, dramatic choir sections and emotional lyrics. I particularly like the prominence of bassist Marco Hietala's vocal work on the song, which weaves perfectly into the music and enhances Tarja's voice rather than undermining it. This song has an enjoyable and somewhat catchy melody line, that carries the song all the way through. There's also an orchestral version of "Nemo" on this single, which allowed the London Symphonic Philharmonic to really shine. I was a little surprised, though that this isn't a purely orchestral track, as there is one section where the guitar solo of the song is used instead of converting it into orchestra, and the vocal track is still here, which makes it a little difficult at times to really hear the orchestra, which is what I was hoping and looking for on an orchestral track. Then there's "White Night Fantasy," labeled here as a "non-album bonus track." Though the song was not included on certain versions of the Once album, it does appear on other versions as a bonus track, so it's not incredibly obscure. Overall a gorgeous song, it allows Tarja to really show off the emotional range of her vocals while leaning more toward the melodic/atmospheric side of the band's music. Then, of course, how could I forget the music video of "Nemo" and the behind the scenes/making of footage for Once and "Nemo?" I wouldn't say this is the best footage (or best edited footage). It's interesting, but not great or particularly insightful. I'm also not incredibly excited about the "Nemo" video either, but that's just personal preference. Overall, though, a great single from Nightwish!

This single is really fantastic! 'Nemo' is a truly excellent song! I love the orchestral version, it's really, really beautiful. Tarja shows everyone how beautiful her voice is in Nemo. And Emppu rocks out on that guitar making it sing mercy! Also White Night Fantasy is so awesome! This cd is worth buying.

Nemo - no, not the fish.,

You're probably wondering like I was whether Nemo Pt.1 (this is just the normal version as opposed to this limited edition)is better than this one. The answer is Pt.1. While this edition has a video, it's not a DVD video and you can just download the Nemo video for free from www.metalstorm.ee. The normal edition has more songs and 'White Night Fantasy' which is not on the 'Once' album. While Nemo is a terrific song, if you want the video, buy the DVD single or the normal Nemo single. There is also a video on the normal version which I find a bit more enjoyable than the Nemo video clip. The video is a collection of shots taken behind the scenes of Nemo and is played to 'White Night Fantasy'.
