Size: German .6mm Calligraphy Nib
I got this pen with a 0.6mm Stub.

The nib:
It responds well to pressure, spreads a smidgeon more than you'd expect for a "cheap" steel nib. It's got beautiful line variation for pen that also lets you write in a fine hand. It's a pen that lets you be artistic in an every day setting.

I absolutely LOVE this pen. This pen is solid, of a mid-heavy weight, with a slick body. I've got long narrow hands, so a lot of pens are too short for me, or I have the alternative of a back-heavy pen (I prefer metal). This pen strikes a fantastic balance between, weight, length and balance, and that is true both posted and unposted. This pen is awesome and you don't even have to consider the price. But hey, it's cheap too, for a cheap-to-mid price pen, this is just THE buy. Buy THIS pen. If you're looking to try fountain pens, or if you want a sturdy every-day pen that you can take with you to meetings, this is the pen for you.

Quick shipping and beautiful pen, the stub nib appears thicker than advertised, but is actually gently rounded at the corners, making for an extremely smooth writing action and a line that is thinner than the nib appears, but around 0.8 mm as advertised. A couple of the included cartridges had burst in my package and were leaking, I think they either froze in the record cold weather we've been having, or more likely burst due to the pressure difference at Colorado altitude, as I've had this happen when bringing cartridges back from England in my checked luggage. However, It was easy to rinse off the pen and as I have literally hundreds of international cartridges in stock, losing 2 did not matter one bit. I have a large collection of fountain pens ranging from Mont Blanc to cheap student pens, and I think this will become one of my favourites.

Size: German .8mm Calligraphy Nib
I bought one of these Pewter Nemosine Fission pens with the 0.8 calligraphy nib almost by accident, when I was first starting up again with fountain pens after not using them for years. I had always preferred metal pens so I ordered this one, but what I had in mind was something like my old Sheaffer Targa, a slim-bodied brushed steel pen (very nice by the way, I still love it). I was unprepared for the thick, solid brass item I received - I'd forgotten how big some fountain pens could be. And I didn't mean to order the italic nib, made some mistake in the ordering process. But as accidents go, it turned out to be a lucky one. I had a bit of trouble at first adjusting to the size and very heavy weight of the pen (for me with my small hands, it works better unposted), but fell immediately in love with the smooth italic nib and the very high quality of manufacture of every detail of this beast. After a little practice, I now find it very comfortable to use. And it has a 3 year guarantee! Not only that, but the pen colour turns out to be a perfect match for my beloved Rohrer & Klingner Sepia ink, which looks gorgeous in italic writing. After giving the pen an initial flush when I first got it, I've had no trouble with it starting up or writing smoothly and reliably, and certainly no leakage.

I can't understand why this brand isn't better known. Possibly it's because of the fairly common complaints about the Nemosine Singularity (plastic) pens having problems with their caps cracking. However, the Fission is another thing altogether. Nothing on this metal pen is going to crack, and it's built like a tank. Unless you must have very lightweight pens, I would suggest spending the extra few bucks and get a pen that not only is a delight to write with, but is going to outlast us all.

I ordered this pen based on several recommendations, which also included some reviews on YouTube. After receiving it in a very timely manner, I spent the first day admiring the pen’s appearance. It is large and appears bullet-proof. The cap and body are metal and are moderately heavy and nicely constructed. The cap screws on fore and aft. The pen has proportions reminiscent of far more expensive pens. I wasn’t sure what colour pen or size of nib to order. I settled on pewter. The colour is subtle and very pleasing to the eye. The steel nib is an exquisite German fine width. The nibs are easily changed out and additional nibs are well priced if one should want to change widths. The pen comes with international cartridges and a converter. I opted to use the converter. After I prepped and inked the pen, I began writing – no muss, no fuss. It immediately lay down a smooth wet line with no scratchiness – with almost no feedback at all. It glides across the paper like warm butter. It is a very pleasant writing experience. I would happily buy another, but this may be the last pen I will ever need. The folks at Nemosine endeavour to provide quality pens at an excellent price, and with this pen I think that they have succeeded admirably.

The pen is metal so it has nice hefty feel to it. This pen writes well and feels good in the hand. The cap screws on when not in use and an additional wonderful feature is the cap screws onto the body of the pen when you are using it: no more dropped or lost caps. If you want a fountain pen but don't want to shell out a lot of dollars, this is the one for you. I really enjoy it. I bought one for my wife and one for a gift as well.
