Product Features

  • Industrial fastener with maximum 4.5 pounds perpendicular pull on contact with thick, flat, smooth ferrous plate. 40% less pounds pull on vertical surface against sliding force
  • Affix by 2-Part epoxy to wood, plastic, aluminum and other non-magnetically receptive surfaces in products designed for adults. This magnet is not safe for children.
  • Made of Neodymium, Iron, Boron and a few transition metals, a permanent magnet material, extremely powerful, rated at grade 35 maximum energy, and coated with nickel plate to prevent rust
  • Designed for dry environments at temperatures below 176 degrees Fahrenheit or 80 degrees Celsius. Encapsulate magnet for water or outdoor applications. Tolerances on all dimensions are +/- 0.005"
  • Take precautions handling Neodymium because they are extremely powerful and fragile. Otherwise they can pinch skin, or crack and fracture magnet from impact if not handled with caution.

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful By Elias Friedman on April 17, 2008
I picked these up to mount to my bicycle's bottom bracket in the hope that it might be able to trip the inductance loop sensors that some traffic lights use- the jury's still out on whether that particular application works. Before I mounted these to the bike, however, I was using them around the house. These tiny magnets had no trouble whatsoever holding heavy things like a full size calendar to my refrigerator. Very useful for their size and price.

I use these at the local science museum to demonstrate Maxwell's Motor (you know, that spinning thing with a battery, screw, magnet and wire). The problem we have with stronger, larger rare earth magnets is from collisions with other magnets or metal, they chip their metal coating. Although what remains is still magnetic, it is not conductive so the demonstration doesn't work.
These magnets are sufficiently small that they don't collide with sufficient force to chip. Of the six magnets I have, so far only one has a small chip, of no consequence.

These magnets are even smaller than I expected (smaller than a US dime) but incredibly strong. One of these magnets can easily hold a 12-month calendar, thick greeting card, or pad of paper on the refrigerator. They really do put other refrigerator magnets to shame. WOW. I plan to order another pack for myself and also several to give as gifts.

I lost the foot pedal magnet for my Garmin cadence sensor. Stuck one of these on the end of the pedal axel and it works perfectly. It's much further away than the original magnet, but it's so strong that it still works. Saved a bunch over the Garmin replacement magnet and have spares for my other bikes.

Is it only me that thinks these are overpriced? There are only 6 magnets in total. But I must say, they are quite strong and durable. I use them for my fridge to hang pictures, notes, etc and it works really well. Even though they are kind of expensive, I am planning on purchasing more of them.

I love these magnets! They actually can hold stuff up without sliding down my fridge. I have glued a couple of these on clips so that I can use them on my fridge and I can add a bunch of papers in the clip......and it holds!!

#()@! Neodymium Rare Earth Magnet Discs, How do they work? Nobody knows. But I do know that my calendar on my fridge is held up by 3 of them. Either that or an visible flock of angels is keeping it levitated. Either way, these magnets seemed to have attracted said angels so I think they're worth checking out.

In retrospect I would have gotten magnets with grips though. I have to slide them to the edge of my fridge to remove them... which is awkward and costs them one star.
