5.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly strong - great for magnetic paint walls., September 29, 2009

This review is from: 4 Neodymium Magnets 1/2 inch Cube N48
These are the strongest magnets I have found of their type. They work very well to hold up heavy items on "magnetic painted" walls, which require a lot of power.
My only complaint is that they are very brittle and chip if allowed to snap together quickly. This is probably a feature of the material and not the vendor.
Also, keep them away from the little ones, they can hurt quite a bit if they pinch you and really should not be eaten.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I wanted, July 13, 2011

Obviously these are not toys... but they aren't really big enough to do any serious damage. I was looking for some stronger magnets to 'play' with (already have numerous smaller ones, wanted a bit more power). The 25ish pound pull is ideal in my opinion as these are separable by hand, yet they can hold together through your hand. Its pretty cool to place one of these magnets in your palm and one on the top of your hand.

As for the durability issue, I"m not sure exactly what some of the other reviewers are doing with their magnets, but mine have snapped 1-2 inches and come away without any damage at all. These aren't for throwing at each other or allowing to snap together repeatedly (go for a rubber coated magnet if that's your cup of tea or you have friends who are careless) I try to keep a cloth between the magnets when i place them together, then they can be allowed to contact by pulling out the cloth (little to no 'snap'). In short, if you have respect for the magnets and exercise reasonable precautions, they will be just fine.

4.0 out of 5 stars Magnets, January 23, 2011

The magnets are super strong. The only draw back is that it chips easily if you're not careful. I had people come over and played with it and they're all broken now. I guess you have to be careful when handling them or get ones with better coating?

4.0 out of 5 stars Very strong, February 24, 2012

These small magnets are very strong. They are hard to pull apart/off, which is why instructions tell you to slide them. One has already broken a corner from collision with metal or another magnet (~1 month old). Great if you want to hold up a thick pile of paper with a small footprint (like part of a calendar) or if you don't want to move it often. Otherwise they are almost too strong.
ALTERNATIVE: For just holding up maps or papers, I found the "Hold Everything Magnet" (from Magnet Source) easier to handle because they are bigger and certainly strong enough (~$8/pair on Amazon). If you don't like bright colors, just spray paint them.
You can buy white ones from Magnet Sales (not on Amazon), but $50 for 25-pack (Item No. MH1001):

5.0 out of 5 stars 10 MAGNETS Over Priced, Easy Chip, Easy Cracking, April 17, 2011

10 Cyllinder NdBFe Magnet 1/2" x 1/2"
This Review is not from the 4 magnets advertised by the seller, this is a dishonest practice to make people believe the changes in price package and offer are related to Reviews that are convenient to them. They have changed the 10 units magnets pack to 4 units pack. We didn't acquired that abusive offer at that time.
Pretty strong NEODYMIUM Iron Boron magnets. They chip very easily and at short distances (which is absurd, but if the force of attraction is not absorved by a body, they will deform chip and crack themselves) Impact/Deformation Relation. They are expensive because have minimum demand, and have a FANCY elemental NAME But little fame because are not (physically) durable. At least you can have some fun making many experiments with them, they are pretty strong. Attrack each unit at 5 or less units-measurements from distance, even more, if you reduce the friction. They might last 50 years if you don't eventually crack them to dust. We will test the durability of their magnetic properties. If it gets a better price We will rate it 5 stars. We purchased 40 of them. 30 cubes + 10 cyllinders. (1/2") at a cheaper price than this package advertised here. Their importance is WE CAN GENERATE ENERGY WITH THEM. And apply magnetic therapy for the body. And magnetize the WATER giving it excellent properties for plant growing and body healing. It was a very stupid decision to rise the prices from China because they are suffering the scarcity of sellings.
