Product Description

Neoflam is proud to introduce cast aluminum cookware featuring EcolonTM non-stick coating. Ecolon is a ceramic based coating which is mostly made of silicon dioxide (also known as silica or SiO2), a material most commonly found in nature such as stone and sand. Unlike traditional cookware with PTFE-based non-stick coating, Ecolon is not harmful to the environment and the human body.

I have used this wok half a dozen times and so far not a single scratch. It still looks like new. Cleaning is just rinse and wipe. Really a great non stick surface.
Everything seems to cook better in it. Meats come out especially tender and juicy.
Delivers all that is promised and is a beautiful looking addition to any kitchen.

I rely on a wok for nearly 1/3 of my cooking. I've gone through two decades of stir-fry pans and woks of all materials--carbon steel, cast iron, enameled iron, aluminum-clad stainless steel, stainless, hard-anodized aluminum--scores of brands sold in the US and abroad from Heckles and All Clad to Fissler, to Circulon, to Caphalon and Joy Cook. I've found it's almost impossible to cook a decent stir-fry in stainless steel clad cookware. You can't raise the temperatures high enough to achieve wok hay ('') to caramelize meats and vegetables--foods and sauces invariably burn and stick--flavors ruined.

I purchased this wok at a local Korean housewares shop in San Francisco, $28 w/o the lid, based on a friend's recommendation. I am amazed by Neoflam's cast aluminum heat conductivity. Although it's not as hard, nor as heavy as other materials, the heat is amazingly even and strong, not as sloppy as stainless, and not as overly buffered as thick hard-anodized aluminum pans. You can achieve nearly carbon steel wok cooking flavors and textures in this pan without the need for seasoning and salt-cleaning maintenance. It performs well at medium heat. You can sear, brown, and achieve decent wok hay based flavors in your cooking.

The non-stick coating is very decent at the start, but the coating doesn't feel as tough as the coatings on Circulon or Calphalon cookware. I doubt it will withstand a year's worth of heavy use. Nevertheless, you'll cook great meals with Ecolon.

The pan worked great until it didn't. I looked after the pan as mentioned online and the brochure, and after about 4 months the whole thing is completely useless.

Everything sticks to this pan, and customer service from the company will NOT! cover non stick issues, which suggests to me, they know these pans do not last.
