This is definotely one of the better post-apocalyptic movies. It shows the world after an ecological catastrophy. Ozone layer is almost gone, survivor cluster in a few cities, and vicious raiders named "Skins" rule the desert. An outlook on one possible future, mutations, government control, etc. The movie deals with people going on a "bus" to a...

3.0 out of 5 stars MAD MAX meets STAGECOACH
NEON CITY is not a great film, but it's enjoyable. Yet another one of the many post-apocalyptic films inspired by MAD MAX, this is one of the better ones, along with CIRCUITRY MAN and CHERRY 2000.

It also seems inspired by the 1930s western, STAGECOACH.

In NEON CITY, a disparate group of people in the post-apocalypse North America of A.D. 2057 buy tickets on a trailer that drives across the wastelands. Michael Ironside is a bounty hunter transporting Vanity to the Northern District's marshall. There's also a poor little rich girl, a psycho posing as a doctor, a former prostitute, a down-and-out standup comic (played by that actor who played the newscaster on WKRP IN CINCINNATTI), and a few others.

Along they way they fight off wasteland "skins" (barbarians on motorcycles), meet mutants, pass through solar-radiated areas over which the ozone layer has disappeared, pass through poisonous clouds, and have other post-apocalyptic adventures.

You've seen this stuff in many other films, but it's well done if you like the genre.

Got to say that if one man can make a movie worth watching then there's only one man, MICHAEL IRONSIDE.

Ozone layer is almost gone, survivor cluster in a few cities, and vicious raiders named "Skins" rule the desert. An outlook on one possible future, mutations, government control, etc. The movie deals with people going on a "bus" to a "megapolice" called Neon City. On the way they have to deal with ruined ecology, mutants, "Skins," and each other. Fairly bloody movie for the kids, a thought-provocking flick for adults.

Perhaps, Ironside at his greatest.

A truly cool romp. An amazing series of post-apocalyptic cliche scenes, stitched together as well as any Indiana Jones flick.

I highly recommend it to any Ironside fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars Neon City, August 26, 2003

Just wanted to say that I love this movie! But when I bought the 1st tape I notice a couple of important parts were cut out! I can not understand why they were deleted they helped understand to movie. Then I ordered a second tape of Neon City and it had the same parts cut out. I am upset because I paid good money for tape and now I feel I got jibbed. Anyway if you can get the movie uncut you will really like it.
