From the anime series that shocked and captivated Japan,
By A Customer
This review is from: Neon Genesis Evangelion II (Audio CD)
The music in this cd is a lot more interesting then the other two compilements of the series . The first two songs are the best I have heard on any other Japanese animenation soundtracks .They are solid songs which dipicts the series ideas well . If you don't understand japanese it's O.K because like the other two cds (Neon genesis evangelion 1 and Neon genesis evangelion 3 ) it only has a little bit of japanese the rest of the cd has the background music and some funny voiced japanese voice actors trying to sing the english version of FLY ME TO THE MOON . Track 24 is recorded in an espeically cute voice and the leaflet included with the cd has all the lyrics . Track one althrough it is recorded in Japanese has an sombre mood to it and very additive to listen to . The second track has a cheesy begining but when the beat starts there nothing holding you back . It is espeically additive if you've seen the series for this is the title track for each episode . A lot of band music and marching music as well as a bit of horror music but all in good taste and extremely addictive ( I almost broke my cd player cause I overloaded it with playing the cd for ages ) For those who have seen the series it will bring back fond memories and an interesting aura in the music . Buy this cd if you are interested in anime music or if you are just openminded about music . An truly magnificant masterpiece in my and many other peoples book . Buy it and hear what all the awards were for .

Anime addictions,
By A Customer
This review is from: Neon Genesis Evangelion II (Audio CD)
I am an avid fan of the very controversial, yet incredible anime series, Neon Genesis Evangelion(NGE or Eva). The music presented in the soundtrack was unlike, but better than my predictions. Consequently, I listen to it all the time. For those of you who are not familiar with either anime and/or japanese- this CD might charm you regardless. The emotional instrumental tracks might create an anime addiction! The CD reflects the series' depth of feeling and character development, two things that are becoming scarcely seen on TV or the movie screen, especially here in the USA. I implore you to give this CD a chance, regardless of the high price.

A Nice Soundtrack,
This review is from: Neon Genesis Evangelion 2 (Audio CD)
A very nice soundtrack, albeit it is a little on the quiet side by comparison to modern music and sound tracks, but that is something you find with most older musical scores and foreign music. At least that's been my experience.
I have ironically never seen the anime, so I have no idea how well the soundtrack on CD represents the soundtrack as actually heard in the anime itself.

Evangelion Volume two.,

I was pleasently surprised by this, expecting to like indavidual tracks but not necessarily the whole album but more often than not I find myself listening to the whole thing (well except for the endless variations on fly me to the moon). Not to keen on the opening track which I think was recorded speacially for this CD and is not featured in the series but after that it's all good. The tracks are well selected, most taken from the middle of the series called the 'action arc' and fit together nicely as an album. Favorite tracks would have to be The beast II, Rei III, A crystalline night sky, Thanatos and Angel attack II. Before buying I was pretty sure which tracks would be my favorites (having heard them countless times from watching the series) but what surprises is the quality of all the tracks, many sounding better here than they do in the episode in which they appear and presented in their complete form as apposed to the edited snippets usually heard in the series. Rei III is a track I don't recall from the series (a simular variation does appear in the End of Evangelion) but I loved it all the same, a blistering tour de force that for me encapsulates the spirit of Neon Genesis: Evangelion. Though the five different versions of Fly me to the moon my feel a tad excessive (or comprehensive depending on your point of view) they don't eat up to much of the CD's run time, with the majority of the album dedicated to Shiro Sagisu's wonderful music. If you're a fan of the series this comes highly recommended.
