"Neondaze" create Glam Metal through passion and character; total artistic genius, March 14, 2009
This review is from: Neondaze (Audio CD)
2008 debut album by Swedish band "Neondaze". Along with "Crashdiet" and "Crazy Lixx", "Neondaze" adds to the revival of the glam metal sound in Europe. The band consists of Marcus Lundgren (V), Lars Boquist (G), Hampus Landin (D) and Jesper Malm (B).
In all fairness with so many good Glam bands around at this time it is not unlikely for the listener to grow confused at this incredible rate of growth the genre is currently witnessing. For that, we should stand on the facts that separate "Neondaze" from their fellow glamsters:
First thing one notices about the band is that they the do not expand on appearances; no big hair, nail polish etc. Additionally there is no rebellious ideology from these boys and therefore no subsequent foul language; instead the band strongly concentrates on delivering the most passionate performances possible to the listener.
Another interesting fact is that this is by and large a guitarist's album with Boquist having composed this release in its entirety; this effectively explains why this album sounds so dynamic and tight as well including the hugest guitar parts and intriguing solos one could find in a Glam Metal record.
"Hold me", "Livin", "Stop Crying" and "Chains" are absolutely infectious hard rockers while the album features softer but still very considerate tunes such as "Caroline". And then there is "Million Miles" a song so forceful, dark and sexy that makes it almost impossible to get over it.
Summing this up, "Neondaze" is an inevitable must for any glam metal/ Hard Rock fan simply because it takes the genre's best qualities up to 11 while leaving all that is unnecessary outside.
"Neondaze", a diamond of an album.
