These covers are made out of neoprene and work pretty well. Be aware that their fit is very snug so you won't be putting anything else in there with the lantern. The cover does the job and keeps your lantern from getting scratched, but I wouldn't trust it to give much padding in case of a fall. Since the lantern itself is pretty large it keeps down the bulk, but as with everything in life it's a trade-off.
