Product Description

Neoprene (Chloroprene) is an excellent all purpose rubber which was developed in the 1930s. It is chemically and structurally similar to natural rubber with like mechanical properties. Its resistance to oils, chemicals, UV, weathering , aging, and ozone is excellent. Compression set is superior to natural rubber and it is one of the few elastomers that does not support combustion. It will retain its properties up to 250 F. Exhibits superior resistance to gas permeability over natural rubber.

For some reason I thought I was buying a sheet that is like what is used to make beer coozies, though nowhere on the page did it say it was anything like that. I gave it 5 stars because it is exactly as they said it was. I'd have to give myself one star though, for not paying attention!

This is a 12x12 piece of solid rubber very dense and noy very flexible. Not to be confused with soft neopreme foam because thats not what this is.

This oil resistant Neoprene is the same material Taig Tools puts on their mills to protect the ways, lead screws and stepper motors from hot chips. It is Neoprene, but it is NOT spongy like a wetsuit. It is more like flexible rubber material that can be draped over machinery that needs to be kept clean, and it stays put. Cuts easily.

I used a sheet of this stuff to make gaskets to fit under the lugs on a bass drum. Making precise cutouts was a bit tedious, but the material served its purpose. I'm using the remainder of the sheet as a protective pad on my workbench.

Nice rubber sheet, industrial grade, lightweight. I cut a whole in it and use it to protect the paint on my plane when I fill the wing with gas.

If you're thinking of buying neoprene rubber sheets for industrial applications this product is a durable one. Although my application doesn't stress the product tremendously I have no doubt it could withstand a lot. At 1/16" this is remarkable tough and withstands stretching and pulling and bounces back to new.

It is solid, meaning it isn't a cushy rubber product. Use it for dampening minimal vibrations or as a non-sealing gasket between metal components.

1st, the rubber was a little tacky with no shelf-life data available on the product. I worked for the government for many years & all rubber product has shelf-life data. I will assume, since the material is tacky, the shelf-life has expired. 2nd, I fabricated gaskets for my Harley's Carb (Weber 48 IDA) and the rubber under stress during compression split in certain areas & leaked.

I wouldn't recommend this product to use for automotive or motorcycle gasket fabrication, especially, when the rubber is tacky as the one I received.

I have absolutely no basis to compare this product to similar products. However, it is black, smooth and according to my digital calipers, .062-.0625 inches (1.75-1.76mm) thick. Cuts cleaning with a steel punch. Durometer rating seems reasonable, but I can't really test it. Whether you needs are airborne like a wasp or aquatic like Poseidon, wipe away your concerns. This is a good choice.
