Memorable rhymes, beautiful pictures!,

This review is from: Nephi, Nephi, the Scriptures Are True (Hardcover)
This book is the perfect read-aloud for your pre-schoolers. By focusing on 13 of the most important Book of Mormon figures, the book gives you a chance to teach and share your testimony with your children. The rhyming, repetitive text is very appealing, and I especially like the fact that the illustrations are realistic rather than cartoon-like, emphasizing the idea that the scriptures are true. We've waited a long time for a book like this!

Beautiful, thoughtful book for reading with children,

I enjoy reading this book to my two boys, ages 5 and 2. The short rhyme gives them a feel for what is happening in the picture. My boys then enjoy carefully examining the picture and asking me questions about what is happening, which leads to good discussions about the Book of Mormon.
The pictures are beautiful, meaningful and fun, while the rhymes give them a basic understanding of what the picture means -- an excellent combination for introducing the Book of Mormon to your children.

What a fun book! My kids can't get enough of it--we have to read it every night before going to bed now! Even my 2-year old gets into it. She loves the catchy rhymes. I would highly recommend the book--it makes a great gift!

helpful rhymes for kids (and adults!),

My little neighbors (aged 6 & 10,) absolutely adored this book. They loved the easy reading, and started trying to memorize the rhymes for future reference. I also think the rhymes are helpful, as I tend to get characters in the Book of Mormon mixed up sometimes! Overall, just a fun book to read with the kids.

Anything that has such a catchy rhyme is really effective because it sticks in kids' minds. My 3 year old loves this book and I would highly recommend it to anyone with young children.

This book has quickly become a favorite in our home. We have three young boys, ages 1, 2, & almost 4. The older two love to guess who is in the picture and it wasn't long before they were actually 'reading' the words to me.
They also love the pictures and love searching the crowds for peoples faces and little details as well. It is a wonderful lead into the Book of Mormon and introduces the reader to some of the most influential leaders and prophets in the Book of Mormon. It also is a book that would make a great family gift that would be treasured for years to come.

Exceptional artwork - Mediocre poetry,
This review is from: Nephi, Nephi, the Scriptures Are True (Hardcover)
The artwork in this book is outstanding in every way. The pictures are incredibly well done, and seem to bring the stories to life. Absolutely incredible artwork by Neal Anderson.
The poetry is simply very mediocre. It really doesn't tell me much about the stories etc. In fact, it seems to detract from the marvelous artwork. The quality of the poetry severly pales in comparison to the professionalism of the artwork. I do love the book however! |
