Great read,

This review is from: Nephilim Volume 1 (Paperback)
Beautiful art work and a great story - Nephilim will truely catch you're eye. Nephilim were a once peaceful and beautiful race. There home located between two feuding nations, both eager for expansion, have nearly destroyed the proud race of Nephilim. Incredibly beautiful, only at night can a nephilim's true gender be revealed. And death comes to any who sees their true form.
Guy, on a private mission, saves a nephilim 'boy'and lets it go, but later that night he is awoken and sees the same nephilim while 'he' bathes - only he is now a she! A true gentleman, Guy apologizes and turns away, but already he has fallen in love with the beautiful creature. The nephilim tries to make use of Guy's gentlemanly manners and tries to kill him for seeing her true form - but Guy dodges. He tells her he is on an important mission and that she can't kill him just yet. First he has to save the king's mistress, by himself. So for the rest of the book, the nephilim known as Abel, follows Guy with continued attempts to kill him. Meanwhile he gently takes care of Abel and easily avoids her attacks, while still proceeding with his own mission. Abel slowly loses her heart to Guy's gentlness but is torn over why he must save another woman - a woman she believe's might be Guy's lover.

Like a fanfic....but that's not a bad thing!,

I'll admit that while I wouldn't consider this a great piece of either art or literature, I did enjoy reading it. It's really sparse in a lot of ways (artwork, characterization, actual plot, etc) and reads more like a fanfic than anything else. Guy and Abel are good eye candy, though so it's not all bad ;) I do wish they had more depth to them, however; at this point I don't really "like" either of them as characters.
One thing I will say is that it ends on a climactic cliffhanger, something a lot of authors try and fail at. This one wasn't too bad in actuality. It makes me want to hurry up and get the next book so I can find out what happens.

this series was a great series!!! however it only goes up to vol 2 , the series is not discontinued or anything, but the publishers say that japan has not published the remaining volumes... i think this story would probably stop at vol 2 if not....it might take a 7 years wait haha:)
anyway...the drawing wasnt the best.... but i liked this story, and i would recommend it, even though it doesnt finish and ends in a cliff :) |
