5.0 out of 5 stars First Chair Seems So Far Away, July 12, 2007
My first thought upon finding this book was that someone had discovered a lost book of Shel Silverstein. The black and white cover and humorous drawings brought back fond memories of reading his books back in junior high. Upon that reaction, I decided to give Corchin a try.

Once being a band nerd myself, I could totally relate to this book and Corchin's poetry. Anyone who enjoys light hearted rhyme, or anyone who might have been a little "different" in high school or not a part of the "in crowd," will enjoy this book!

Even if you have a child yourself who may be struggling with diversity or stereotypes in school right now, buy this book for them! It will definitely cheer them up and make them see that it's okay to be different. Never give up! It's only high school.

Corchin says it best...

And as time went on, I never moved.
Last chair is where I'd sit.
But 7 years later I'm finally first
'Cause everyone else had quit.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great read!, December 28, 2011
DJ has a wonderful way with words. This book is a great addition to a band geek's library! Marching band members and alumni will especially appreciate his poetry.

Do you have a child in high school band? Does not matter if it marching or concert, there is something for everything in this book. From the out of control band room, to the "superhero" marching band parents; there is something to chuckle, or laugh out loud at. This makes a good stocking stuffer, or birthday gift.

This review is from: Band Nerds Poetry From The 13th Chair Trombone Player (Paperback)
This is a fun book, and I enjoyed the illustrations. If you've ever been in band - particularly marching band - you'll find this collection hits close to home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Band Nerds from the 13th Chair, October 29, 2008
I bought this book for my 17 year old son and he just loved it. He thought it was so funny. He wants me to look for more by the same author.
