My wife and I have two young nieces and a nephew who stay with us on weekends when their parents need a break. It's fun for everyone, but the kids all have their own Nerf weaponry, and I got tired of being their prime target, so a couple of years ago, I got my own Nerf N-Strike Stampede ECS, and we've had some nice little wars in the yard (my wife won't let us play inside unless it's raining). But with three of them, I was still outgunned. Until I got the Elite Rapidstrike CS-18 Blaster, that is. With the longer range and superior rate of fire, those poor kids will never know what hit them. I'll make mincemeat of them.

But just how good is the CS-18? I'd say pretty doggone good. First and obvious, the transparent magazine is a real plus, letting you see exactly how many rounds you have left. And it doesn't take long to empty the clip. The rate of fire is noticeably higher than my Stampede ECS, thanks to the motorized flywheel drive that speeds up the firing mechanism. I fired off four magazines (72 darts) without a jam, but these were new darts still in pristine condition, so there shouldn't be many jams. If you do get a jam, the port under the top rail allows easy access to clear it. I didn't try to measure the maximum range, but I fired a clip from my front porch, which is about forty-five feet from the street, and some shots were landing almost on the other side of the street, so it had to be at least 60 feet. There are five tactical rails for gripping, and three attachment points for a sling. Aiming is easy, with front and rear sights.

There's no assembly required, but the CS-18 won't operate without 4 C batteries. You'll need a small Phillips screwdriver to remove three screws that hold the battery compartment under the barrel.

Other reviews already cover the basics; performance, accuracy, form & function, etc... If you're in the market for a full-auto Nerf blaster then this is your blaster - you can read/watch all the other online reviews.

Here are some practical tips & observations:
* 18-round clips don't do this blaster justice. You're better off with the 25-round drum mag from the Rampage or better yet the 35-round drum mag from the Raider. If you are set with 18-rounds, then the 18-round drum mag from the older Alpha-trooper is the best configuration, making the profile of this blaster more ergonomic to handle.
* For straps, buy some paracord! Use a simple loop & monkey-fist knot to provide a semi-permanent attachment point on the rear posts flanking the rear sight port. (Use 2 separate loops for each post.) Make another paracord loop for the attachment post on the bottom of the trigger grip.
* When using the 35-round drum mag, a fore-grip is a must. This grip is a perfect & exact fit:Military Law Enforcement Polymer Vertical fore-grip Battle Grip 1913 Picatinny or weaver Rail Configuration. Check out the pictures in the customer gallery.
* Accuracy will depend greatly on the health & quality of your darts. Both the N-Strike Streamlines and the new N-Strike Elite Darts work... But beware that the darts start to show a "pinching" wear-and-tear on the shaft of the dart just below the tip due to the flywheel mechanism. This is expected, but can shorten the life span of accurate darts in any flywheel blaster. (Traditional spring/manual blasters don't have this issue with dart "pinch")
* Trigger technique is more "delicate" that other semi-auto flywheel blasters. The entire dart pusher assembly is automated.

We have a number of Nerf guns, from the Mavericks (we have 4), Barricade, Recon CS-6, Vortex, and single shooters. The CS-18 is one of the longest shooters. It actually hurts if you get hit by one of the bullets.

The gun requires four C batteries (not included) making it a little heavier on the front. You will need to press two triggers to fire the bullets. The lower trigger starts the motor and the upper trigger release the bullets. You don't have to release all 18 bullets, you cam limit it. It will keep on firing as long as you are holding down the trigger.

You can buy another 18-bullet magazine if you want a quick reload. Putting back the bullets though is a little annoying. You'll have to push each bullet back in the magazine

Cons:
- Frustrating when it jams, and it jams.
- if you are planning for sneak attacks, forget it. The motor is loud and your enemy can hear you even at the back of the house.

Just received my blasters two days ago. Have barely used them and they jam CONSTANTLY. 18 round magazine and it jams EVERY SINGLE ROUND. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know otherwise keep your money.***UPDATE*** I have solved jamming issues. Apparently the rubber tips hang up on the plastic inside the magazines. This problem is made worse by the oils from our hands. Solve this by dousing the darts in baby powder. Roll the darts around in your hands afterwards to shake off the excess powder and you should be back in business!

The CS-18 is a battery operated fully automatic "rifle" that fires the entire 18 dart clip of standard (or suction cup) elite darts in about 6 seconds. At a rate of about 3 darts per second, this is a Nerf blaster to be reckoned with when on the move. The CS-18 is not to be considered a "target" blaster. When firing fully automatic (keeping the trigger held back) the spray of darts will generally stay within two to three feet wide at a distance of about 20 feet. When firing semiautomatic (one dart per trigger pull) the darts can keep a tighter grouping, however, darts will still stray slightly from where you are aiming. If you prefer to keep more darts, "burst fire" is recommended. Pull the trigger back just long enough to fire off about 2 to 3 darts and release pressure off the trigger. The iron sight is a neat addition to the blaster, however, it is not meant to hold a zero or be on point. I like to think of the spread of darts as recoil. Just like with a real firearm, you adapt your arsenal to the proper application--meaning this blaster is designed for quick advancement on a target and sending several darts in its path quickly.

Jams can be an issue with some nerf blasters. Call it a design flaw, weak dart walls, or whatever you want... it's bound to happen. There could be a positive correlation between jams and its moving parts. The more moving parts it has the more likely it will jam. This is, of course, a generalization. Although I have encountered a few jams with this blaster, I believe there are ways of reducing the jams. For one, do not store darts in the magazines. Even though the tension from the spring is relatively weak, it's still strong enough to cause indentation of your top dart in the magazine.
