me and my sister play with these swords a ton i act like a samurai and she acts like a ninja. they are very durable. there are differences between the two besides the colors the blue is thicker than the yellow. and the handles are different. these swords are a blast they are stiffer than most foam swords on the market. i have played with them almost 2 hours straight. i like how nerf is making swords too and not just guns. its like they are bringing back samurai. me and my sister are 11 and 8 i am older and these swords are soft on the outside so i dont really have to worry so much about hurting her. my sister likes the blue and i like the yellow. worth the money and by far the best foam sword out there. i will play with them right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My eleven year old daughter bought this for me for Father's Day. I must say that we love it! Unlike the Nerf Fencing product from a couple of decades ago, these swords are quite a combination of durability with safety. The shadow and thunder fury swords are soft enough that being smacked with one does not hurt at all, but they feel enough like regular blades that it is possible to teach my daughter actual fencing moves and how to control the blade!

The layer of foam around the plastic core was an excellent idea. The toys themselves seem pretty sturdy. There are the usual caviats: don't let small children or animals chew on them; don't play with them around breakables (soft or not, you would just be asking for trouble); don't poke someone in the eye with them ... you get the idea. Still, for a fantastic game of pirates, ninja, samurai, knights, or anything else that might involve a sword, you really could not ask for a better toy.

You can do damage with these things if you want to, but Nerf swords are a lot safer than the most popular alternatives (sticks, hard plastic toy swords, broom handles). They are well balanced, and the handles are integrated with the whole, unlike a lot of toy swords. This means they stay together long after lesser toys give way. The length is a good compromise, long enough for adults to handle, short enough for smaller children to wield without fatigue.

My 6 year old boy loved this two pack as he could always find someelse to pick up the other sword. The nerf swords work very well indoors but as they are soft on the onside so can be beat up pretty quite. The three year old neighbor readily left teeth marks but overall very good fun.

I was surprised at the sturdy construction of these swords. I was expecting them to be composed of foam, but they are actually a plastic sword covered in nerf foam, with about an inch at the tip being foam only. They print on the side a reminder to the user not to poke or jab at people or animals, and to refrain from using around breakable objects. Boys young and old will enjoy these swords and they will probably hold up quite well. I feel they are worth what we paid for them.

These swords are fantastic! I'm a fan of Nerf products in general and the line of N-Force weapons is no exception. They're well made and will take a lot of use without a problem. They're great for a costume, play sword fighting, or just as a stress reliever. I'm posting the N-Force commercial since I always find it interesting to see how a company portrays it's product in comparison to customer reviews. Plus if you've already ordered it's something to keep you pumped while you wait for your swords to come in!

Purchased this item for our then six year old christmas of 2009, to date he continues to enjoy his swords with family and friends.

Bought this toy for my nephew at xmas and it was a big hit! I don't know who enjoyed it more -my nephew or his father! The product is durable and safe-I would recommend.

Just like the King Sports Boxing Punching Bag (Large), this is great for visual training/therapy. My son loves them although I have to lure him into playing with them sometimes. Yet, somehow, even though he had never played with them before, while visiting a new child psychologist's office - he immediately picked them up and began appropriately playing with my husband with them. Very cool. It is great for the visual training if you move around the room and encourage him to hit your sword in different locations - up high, down low, left and right. We have a blast with it and I know it is helping him move those eyes around and learn visual spacing. He has depth perception issues. Another cheap therapy toy!! Whoohoo! The quality is great, too. Just make sure that you use visual pictures or explain verbally if that's appropriate that we ONLY hit other swords and not people or other things. If your child is at the point where he/she can "get" that - then great. If not, buy them and PRACTICE with him/her - always making it fun even if he/she make mistakes. Never under-estimate your child. I did when thinking about him playing appropriately with these before seeing that, with a little help, he is capable. AND, we found another toy with which he plays appropriately! It's the little things in life with these special kids, right?

There is a warning written on the blade, "Do not poke or jab at people." I LOLd. I did however give my boys lessons in sword etiquette and taught them that swords are not to be swung like baseball bats.

If you live in a tight space, I would forego these. They are quite long and fairly solid. They could so easily knock things over or otherwise break things or make messes. We just moved into a house with a large playroom/den and I would not have bought these if we didn't have this space. Either that or keep these as "outside toys" and HIDE THEM until you go outside. ;)
