It can fire even if you only load one dart.

Like the "noisy cricket" (aka Hasbro Nerf N-Strike Jolt EX-1 Blaster ) this gun is one of the most powerful non-modified Nerf guns you can get.
Amazon Customer
They shoot very far/hard for such a small and compact size (sting a little).

We were looking for a small Nerf gun for around the house. I stumbled across this one at a Toys'R'Us and I am glad I did. I didn't believe the packaging when it said it had the same distance as the bigger elite models. So I brought it home and sat against the far wall in our house. Man was I surprised when the dart hit the wall at exactly the same point my larger hail-fire did!

The more we play with these the more we realize that they are more what you need for playing around the house. When we have a Nerf battle, there are always stray darts lying around that you can pick up and quickly reload. This is far more convenient than ejecting a magazine and reloading it while avoiding being shot. You can also fire this weapon in the middle of reloading without any problem. If you only have 2 darts loaded and someone pops around a corner the gun detects which barrels are loaded and fires right away.

These guns are not the most accurate, but sometimes I think that is what makes Nerf fun. The darts will occasionally hook and you can hit something, or someone, that is just around the corner. This maybe a shortcoming for some, but its all apart of the experience for me. You will have no problem hitting someone from 20+ feet away though.

If Nerf had a SWAT Team...this would be their primary weapon. This pocket canon is the big gun of the office cube frontline. Its not the straightest of shots, but its far and can easily soar 30 ft +. When you pull that trigger that little foam dart shoots so fast its hard to track. The mere sound of it being cocked sends most women in my office diving under their desks. For the money...you can't beat it!

Normally, I'm not one to complain about taking an occasional foam dart to the head from the kids. It's all in good fun. These little guns, however, changed my tune. All I can say is Ouch! That was AWESOME! For the first time since I started owning dart guns back in the 70's, I actually feel like a product is unsafe for children. Not since Lawn Darts has the likely hood of children injuring themselves been this much fun. For so long, dart guns have been emasculated to the point of annoying mosquitoes to be brushed aside, but no more! These guns not only get your attention, they announce their authority. And you will respect their authority! I ordered three of these, one for each kid, but I think I'll need to order one for myself and one for the wife just so we aren't outgunned.

Seriously though, the only downside to these guns is that they are a little difficult for the 4yr old to use the charging handle. He has to flip the gun over and use better leverage to get it ready to go.

This is by far my foremost favorite Nerf gun. After purchasing a few Nerf weapons this past Christmas, I found that my children - all girls! - got the Nerf bug. After daily wars throughout the house, I realized we'd need at least one more to accommodate all of us warriors. I headed back to Toys R Us to secure another Jolt gun, when I stumbled upon this one. I'd never seen it before and hadn't seen any reviews, but for the price (under $8, similar to the Jolt), I couldn't pass it up!

This is basically the Jolt...times three. Which means, basically, it's the perfect gun. It combines the small form factor, super range, and quick reload of the Jolt while reducing the need for said reload by a third. I have no idea how it knows which barrels are loaded and which aren't, but it works perfectly. One gripe is that we found the newly designed darts (with the small orange tips) and the power of the gun make them sting quite a bit more than other darts/guns. Also, some of our existing bullets tend to fall right out of the barrels of the Triad. Fortunately, the standard suction-cup darts seem to work just fine and don't hurt so much, even in the face.

Previously, my favorite Nerf gun was the Jolt, due to accuracy, compactness, and stealth compared to all my other Nerf toys. My stampede has a telltale ka-thuck when it fires, my barricade has that awful whir when it's armed, and my longstrike has the shortest range of any gun I own (which is sad, considering it's supposed to be a "rifle"). The Triad takes all the greatness of the Jolt, and multiplies it by a factor of three. It's slightly bigger, so it fits my hands better, has the same arming/loading mechanism as the Jolt (which proves to be the fastest shot for endurance firing where you have to relad), has incredible range for it's size, and handles firing out of a loaded chamber automagically. Sadly the only thing that's a disappointment on this gun is that it doesn't fire all three at the same time.

The Triad is small and powerful. It's a second generation elite series blaster. Can do 50-60 feet flat. 75+ with arc. Accuracy is OK. It shoots one dart at a time not three. Looks cool and futuristic. This is the smallest Nerf blaster that can do 75 feet. Old whistler and suction dart works too. NOTE: On some triads the grey tab that sits below bottom part of orange trigger piece is not tucked in properly, if so tuck it in for smoother operation. NOTE: There is a new all white color version, the box says 90 feet instead of 75, saw it at target. I tested both, they have the same range....

Overall this blaster is a must have. Good price and solid performance.
