The nerf elite hailfire is the flagship blaster for N-strike elite, and it deserves that position. The blaster itself is surprisingly small, but in the end it proves more advantageous on the field. Concerning the capacity of the blaster, it doesnt really have a set capacity, with 8 6 round clips u get 48 rounds, with 8 12 round clips u get 96 rounds, with 8 18 round clips u get 144[which is the advertised capacity].The rate of fire is astounding! I've managed to crank out almost six shots a second on it. The accuracy leaves something to be desired, but a simple fix is to squeeze a bb into the tip of the elite darts through the small hole in the tip. The range is very good for an unmodified nerf gun getting about 50-57 feet flat, but to achieve the advertised distance of seventy-five feet u must angle the gun. Also worth mention is that if you do rapid fire, there will be a 10-15 foot range decrease.

Overall an amazing blaster, easily scoring a 9/10. Nerf, you've really out done urself this time.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
No doubt, when this was taken out of the brown Amazon box my child lost his poop. He was wide-eyed and envious of himself for having this monster in his possession. This thing fires darts and does it HARD and FAR! We performed multiple "scientific" tests against his other 15 Nerf guns and this fired farther, made a louder "pop" when hitting the wall than any other gun in his collection. It is quick and it holds an absurd number of darts. It's never jammed once.

Now the "bad." It doesn't come with the max number of darts or clips to make this thing the envy of the whole neighborhood. Really, the point of this gun is the fact that you can fire 144 darts non-stop while your friends are too confused by the raining darts of terror to even fire back. If you are getting this as a gift this holiday season, you really do need to buy the extra clips and darts to ensure it hits the max (144) dart capacity. Your kids will thank you! If you don't, it is like buying a brand-new car with manual windows. Your friends will be impressed by your shiny new vehicle but once they get in, they will wonder why you were too cheap to spend the extra for the power windows.

Ever since I saw the media releases for this blaster I have been stockpiling 18-round clips to fill up the rack on the bottom of this blaster, and I have to tell you that while you will get hand cramps emptying it as fast as you possibly can you won't care. While the Hail-Fire is not as accurate as say, the Retaliator or the Rampage it doesn't have to be and that's not what it was designed for. The purpose is contained right there in the title: Hail... Fire: As many darts in the air as possible for as long as you've got ammo. Others have said that this blaster is unweildy and awkward, now while that may be so for a younger user, the profile is MUCH smaller than the photos would suggest it is actually more compact (lengthwise anyways) than the retaliator with its barrel extension. In actuality I found the Hail-Fire a little on the small side.

The Good:
The hailfire more than lives up to its purpose as a suppressive weapon and with 8, 18-round clips you are going to be suppressing for quite a while. The ranges are more than perfect for indoor work and sufficient for your average Nerf war in the outdoors. Possibly even extendable with voltage-modding. The size is a welcome surprise, 100+ rounds in a compact portable frame is fantastic. Try linking 4 ammo belts together for a vulcan and see how much more unwieldy it gets.

The not so good:
I can't bring myself to write 'bad' here. There is nothing really wrong with the blaster but it could certainly stand to be a little more sturdy. With 8 18-round clips in the rack pulling the advance handle feels a little rickety and a release button for each clip would help with reload times but these are cosmetic. If you need to reload before the match is over then you're probably doing something wrong. Yes with 8 18-round clips the blaster looks a bit funny, but let's focus on the important thing here: 144 rounds.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I hesitate to write such a negative review since this may be a very fun toy when it works. But mine did not work.

It was reasonably easy to put together. The only tool required was a screwdriver in order to insert the batteries. It was a little tricky to snap a few of the pieces on, but generally not a problem.

I had it all set up and ready to show my 4 kids. They'd been wanting a nerf gun for a long time, and now I had what I thought was the king of all nerf guns. I had them follow me outside so that I could show them the "hailstorm" of nerf ammo that I was about to shoot. I pulled the launch trigger. Nothing. I tried several more times. I had my husband try it. Nothing. We took the gun apart to see if anything was wrong. We found that there was a piece that needed to go back further to get itself behind the Nerf pellets so that it could be pushed forward by the launch trigger to push the pellets out. This was not something that we were supposed to have to adjust. It was not mentioned in the product instructions at all, but it was clear to see. Ours didn't move when the launch trigger was pulled. So we pushed it back into its correct position by hand, put the gun back together, and got the kids all excited to see the "hailstorm" begin. My husband pulled both the acceleration trigger and the launch trigger (as you are supposed to do), and the first dart shot out of the gun. Then, nothing. The acceleration trigger (not the one that had caused the problem the first time) was stuck. The motor just kept whirring. This is apparently a known problem, since the instruction manual gives you instructions on what to do if this happens. We followed those instructions (which say to pull the launch trigger all the way back), but it didn't work.
