Very fun gun to modify and looks very impressive.
vonsnrub
The darts go further without the barrel attached, but they are more accurate and the gun looks better with the gun attached!
Harry
The range states that it shoots 35 feet however never gets beyond 15 - 20 feet.

Definitely remove the extension barrel if you want range and accuracy. Its bore is much larger than the dart making it act more like a silencer than an rifle barrel. Not that there's sound to be suppressed, but it will cost velocity and accuracy.

Otherwise, I'm very impressed by both guns that I received for Christmas- the CS-6 and RV-10. I'm amazed that the clip-fed CS-6 can pump out those foam-rubber darts as fast as I can fire without jamming completely. Not to mention the tight pattern that can be had from the RV-10 "Barricade". These are well-designed and well-constructed toys.

(The high "educational" rating is only for those who'd be inclined to take it apart & see how it works.)

This gun is really cool! I love that it comes apart and it looks really intimidating because of its size. I like that it is clip loaded - you can fire up to 6 darts per clip - making it easier to use. I bought this as a gift for my 6 year old son and he absolutely loves it. The only thing I would change is to be able to remove the butt end like the front is removable, but once it is locked in it can't be taken out. It is great that it will hold 2 extra clips and it fires a REALLY long way! Great product if you like dart guns!

I got the Nerf longstrike from toysrus. When i first opened it and fired it with the barrel extension it seemed terrible. Do not take it back. Just fire it repeatedly about 4-5 times with a full clip without the barrel extension and the range should increase greatly. When I first opened it it fired about 10 feet with the barrel extension and once I fired it without it it went to about 20-25 feet at a slight arc with the barrel extension. Without the barrel extension it is much more accurate and fires about 35+ feet. It is worth it at $20-25$ but I would not go over $35 for it. Hope this helped.

According to my son, this is a great Nerf gun. It has good accuracy and range. He loves having Nerf battles with his friends. He wishes that more ammo came with it because it gets lost quite often. Sometimes the bullets do not fly straight. It is not because of the gun: if a bullet has been flattened or ripped, it won't perform as good. Also, as a tip, the Longstrike works better without the barrel than it does with it, because when the barrel is on, the bullet may scrape the edges and go off course or not fly far enough.

Pros.
The scope attachment to this gun can be attached to any other gun with a rail (a line of ridges on top of the gun).
Its barrel can be attached to a handful of other Nerf guns.
The Longstrike is very durable, so it will survive multiple falls (experimentally proven:).
Has a jam door, so if a bullet gets stuck, you can fish it out with your finger.
It can also be used with different clips: the 18 clip and 35 clip.
There are many ways to aim (which are all listed in the instructions)

Cons.
The shoulder rest cannot be removed.

It came within 4 working days to our home in the UK! The darts go further without the barrel attached, but they are more accurate and the gun looks better with the gun attached! Simple design, and great looks make this one of my favourite nerf guns!

My son has been wanting this gun for quite some time and it was considerably less expensive from AMAZON... $10-$20 at some stores! It was easy to put together and shoots pretty far. Like all NERF products, you have to be careful how you load the amo and be patient or you will jam it. It has already taken alot of use and holding up well so far. Really light and easy to carry around and run with.

My previous Longstrike had an average range of about 20 feet, with 30-35 foot shots every so often, maybe 1 of 10. Some were duds, like about 10 feet. Please don't be hesitant to return for a new one, or at least when you get an excellent one like I got. My new replacement shoots maximum, and maybe further than 35 feet. This one actually hurts at point blank. All in All, I liked it, even the less accurate one, it has a nice feel and is easy to reload, just a little loud when cocking. The accuracy is not that good unless you have brand new darts, however. I think the reason it doesn't shoot far is the variability in its design, maybe more than normal they are produced inferior, but if you get the right one, it should not dissapoint!!

My 5 year old loves his Nerf guns, and I love them as they don't damage my walls! This gun is the easiest for him to cock, which was surprising because of its size.

Amazon's sale price just before Christmas was unbelievable, close to half off the retail price I had seen everywhere.
