3.0 out of 5 stars Well..........
Well, it's ok. Me and my friend bought these on a snow day to have some fun with. At first, we were greatly dissapointed. The laser targeting system is almost impossible...correction, IS impossible to calibrate. Plus, you can't even see it in daylight. The bullets it comes with are HORRIBLE. A family friend gave this to our two sons (ages 6 and 4) for Christmas. I mention it because (1) this was our sons' first experience with dart guns and (2) this was the toy they played with the most for the rest of the day.

I waited a couple months to write the review because I wanted to see how the Nerf Nite Finder EX-3 would hold their interest. I can now confirm this is still one of their most popular toys of Christmas 2008.

"Precision blasting" is an oxymoron, so don't take the product claims too seriously when it states that you can "line up the light beam on the target from 15 feet away!" The gun's light beam sight isn't accurate but it sure is fun to use. My sons think the light beam sight is the toy's coolest feature.

The dart gun is surprisingly durable. The only problem we've had is with the Nerf Glow Darts Refill Pack. I'd recommend you skip these because they don't fire as well as the regular darts and they are too expensive. If you want to glow at night, consider using glow in the dark paint on the dart tips instead.

I've read online how to modify these dart guns to shoot farther. I might consider it later but for now the gun shoots well enough to knock down the targets (included) and the action figures we line up on the other side of the kids' room. Rating for young kids: 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing gun, December 15, 2008

So, I'm 16, but, while I may look older, I have not grown up on the inside. I ride a Razor scooter to school, read comic books, and, of course, play with Nerf guns. My friend and I recently bought some guns, and started up a light Nerf war campaign with some people, and I have to say, the Nite-Finder EX-3 has been my best weapon, especially when dual wielded. The NF is the most basic out of the N-Strike series, and the most versatile. People complain about how it must be manually loaded for shots, but I think this is a major positive. It doesn't require the clip reloading that the Recon or the Longshot need, nor does it require the filling up of the belt for the Vulcan. The gun, straight out of the box, is pretty powerful, but the real power lies once the air-restrictors are removed, and the spring is stretched. Mind you, once this is done the gun does become more of a weapon than a toy, so I don't recommend modifications if you are young, or buying this for a young child. It is a basic, simple, one-shot blaster that will fare you well in Nerf warfare, or to just bother your siblings.

4.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!, December 2, 2008

I'm 10 years old. This toy is awesome. I've had it for at least a year. I use it on and off and it hasn't broken yet. It's pretty powerful right out of the package. If you unscrew the body and remove the air chamber and cut out the air suppressor, it can launch darts much farther and faster. the nerf streamlined darts work best in this gun.One thing I don't like is that it doesn't automatically reload. You have to manually reload each dart. I recommend this gun.

They don't go in the barrel all the way, they don't shoot, they're flimsy, and they don't stick that well. Definitely buy an extra pack of bullets. On the positive side, it's VERY easy to reload and fires up to 20 feet with the right kind of bullets. Not that great for nerf wars. Takes a fair amount of time to reload and only has slots for 2 more bullets, and you can't attatch an ammo clip. All in all, it's an ok gun, with the right kind of bullets, and careful calibration. With only two people shooting, it's alot of fun.

We bought several packs of these nerf guns for our son's 7th birthday party. He wanted a nerf theme so we thought it would be fun to give all of the kids one to use and take home instead of making goodie bags. We were right. There were kids from age 7-12 and every one of them had a blast playing with these guns. We set up barriers for them to hide behind in the basement and they spent hours teaming up and playing inside the house and outside in the yard. The guns are high quality and easy to use. The foam bullets fly very fast but they don't hurt you when they hit, however especially if kids are younger, you might want to make a rule where nobody is allowed to shoot anybody in the face. I highly recommend this toy!

Bought this for my children (ages 4-10). They have a blast shooting at targets (included and others). The bullets go pretty far for the kids, but not far enough for an adult (my opinion). I bought extra bullets to begin with because the toy came with a small amount.

I was looking for an entry level Nerf gun for my 4 year old son and 6 year old daughter. The Nerf N-Srike Nite Finder EX-3 was perfect. We have 2 younger kids (4mos & 2yrs), so I was concerned about kids getting hurt from stray shots--not a problem! The darts shoot hard enough for the older kids to be enthused and they'll stick to our patio doors, but soft enough that the younger ones need not worry. Also, the guns are perfect as far as ease of use--the 4 year old has no problem, but the 2 year old needs help pulling the trigger (thus preventing her from using the guns without supervision!). Also, the laser beems are really cool for the kids (and allow us to notice shots getting to close to "no fire zones" (like the baby) before they hit).

This blaster is very durable fun and cool for children ages 6 +. It is light weight the bullets fire fast.... like 30 mph.
It is like so fun for anyone to play with.

I must say, this is a very good deal. I bought this for a party and I found that everyone loved this gun. Not only did it shoot very far, but it was accurate and fast! The light was not really useful, but is fun to play around with (It has a replaceable battery compartment). It holds only up to two darts and can shoot only one before needing a reload. This function, however, teaches everyone how important each bullet is and the need for accuracy. Overall, for the price and contents, it is a steal! Also has free shipping!
