Don't listen to the naysayers. They simply don't understand how this gun is to be used and where it fits within the Super Soaker arsenal.

It is a blast. Literally. A 35-45 foot fully drenching blast of water. Its incredibly precise - even to that distance - and does its intended job.
Sure, its not a quick firing as a Tornado Strike or Thunderstorm - but it carry's 5 times the water and will absolutely soak your opponent at a much further distance. Ideally, you would have the Hydro Cannon as an initial weapon, and then back it up with the Thunderstorm or Tornado Strike. Though, this water cannon more than holds its own.

Initial shot does require 20 or more pumps, but thats for maximum range. After that, start pumping right away. By the time your opponent realizes where the blow came from, your 5 pumps into the next shot. By the time they rush and get within range of their Tornado Striker, your at 10 pumps and fully capable of delivering another 10 ounce drenching (which is about as much total water as the Tornado Striker holds in a single clip).

We used the Hydro Cannon with much success today at a cub scout water gun fight. It was the hit of the pack. My son weilded it like a man on a mission and soaked everyone.

Highly recommended - but understand its strengths first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review August 2, 2011

When I opened the box (good illustrations and such) and looked at it i thought, "woah! this thing is enourmous!" But when i picked it up it was suprisingly light. I immediatly filled it up with water and pumped it up. Even for me, a 13 year old boy, it wasnt pretty hard to pump up 20-22 times. For all you people who say "too hard to pump up, not worth it." If you cant pump this thing up with ease, you/your child probably shouldn't be playing with these water guns in the first place. When i took the first shot, i was astounded! The water stream was extremely powerful and had a radius of about 4 inches, i mean, this thing was crazy! And besides, you shouldnt need to pump up this thing alot, you should be able to hit someone in 1 shot. I highly recommend this gun to anyone over 7. Great.

This water cannon sends out a single blast of water in a single blast with enough force to actually give the gun a heafty "kick" when it fires. The amount of water is similar to that in an average sized water balloon. It takes less much less time to fill and fire this gun than it would take to fill and throw a water balloon. If the goal is to get your opponent wet, then this will do the trick in a single shot, rather than having to hold a small stream on your opponent for a long time.

I own several 2011 Super Soaker guns, and each fires in its unique way. If this was your only water gun, then it would probably wear your arm out and slow the action down a lot. However, mixed in with other water guns, it adds a unique element of sheer power--hence the term "cannon."
