Overall, much too much effort for very little action.
Grenade
It leaks all over you while you hold and pump it up, and then only after 20 pumps does it do much at all and even at that, it doesn't shoot far- maybe 8-10 feet?
Shelly Ackerman
I bought it tonight, used it, and tomorrow it's going back because it just doesn't shoot enough water to be a "Super Soaker".

Don't listen to the naysayers. They simply don't understand how this gun is to be used and where it fits within the Super Soaker arsenal.

It is a blast. Literally. A 35-45 foot fully drenching blast of water. Its incredibly precise - even to that distance - and does its intended job.
Sure, its not a quick firing as a Tornado Strike or Thunderstorm - but it carry's 5 times the water and will absolutely soak your opponent at a much further distance. Ideally, you would have the Hydro Cannon as an initial weapon, and then back it up with the Thunderstorm or Tornado Strike. Though, this water cannon more than holds its own.

Initial shot does require 20 or more pumps, but thats for maximum range. After that, start pumping right away. By the time your opponent realizes where the blow came from, your 5 pumps into the next shot. By the time they rush and get within range of their Tornado Striker, your at 10 pumps and fully capable of delivering another 10 ounce drenching (which is about as much total water as the Tornado Striker holds in a single clip).

We used the Hydro Cannon with much success today at a cub scout water gun fight. It was the hit of the pack. My son weilded it like a man on a mission and soaked everyone.

Highly recommended - but understand its strengths first.

When I opened the box (good illustrations and such) and looked at it i thought, "woah! this thing is enourmous!" But when i picked it up it was suprisingly light. I immediatly filled it up with water and pumped it up. Even for me, a 13 year old boy, it wasnt pretty hard to pump up 20-22 times. For all you people who say "too hard to pump up, not worth it." If you cant pump this thing up with ease, you/your child probably shouldn't be playing with these water guns in the first place. When i took the first shot, i was astounded! The water stream was extremely powerful and had a radius of about 4 inches, i mean, this thing was crazy! And besides, you shouldnt need to pump up this thing alot, you should be able to hit someone in 1 shot. I highly recommend this gun to anyone over 7. Great.

This water cannon sends out a single blast of water in a single blast with enough force to actually give the gun a heafty "kick" when it fires. The amount of water is similar to that in an average sized water balloon. It takes less much less time to fill and fire this gun than it would take to fill and throw a water balloon. If the goal is to get your opponent wet, then this will do the trick in a single shot, rather than having to hold a small stream on your opponent for a long time.

I own several 2011 Super Soaker guns, and each fires in its unique way. If this was your only water gun, then it would probably wear your arm out and slow the action down a lot. However, mixed in with other water guns, it adds a unique element of sheer power--hence the term "cannon."

First off let me say that this weapon is basically a water RPG and should be used similarly to one, as opposed to a rifle/pistol like most water guns. Instead of shooting a thin stream of water like most water guns nowadays do, the Hydro Cannon uses CPS technology from the golden age of Super Soakers to launch one massive blast of water (similar to a water balloon or the riot blast from a Super Soaker Arctic Blast).
It takes some strength to pump and wield so it is better suited for teens and adults than children. It works best in team battles, where it can be carried by your "Heavy" class. In order to use this weapon properly, one must also carry a medium-sized secondary weapon as its main shortcoming is how long it takes to charge another shot. When used correctly, this weapon offers a great intimidation factor as your opponents never know if the Hydro Cannon on your back is primed or not.

This is a fantastic water gun! I've always loved super soakers and this one is no exception. Pump action does require a bit more work but I think it adds to the fun. The Hydro Cannon soaks people extremely well. The site helps you spot your target properly.

Wow. thats all i can say. I love this gun, but I even more love because I got it for a flat 9.99, free shipping. The only thing I would say that could be improved is the blast; it is so quick that it is like a real gun, but the amount of water it fires in one shot takes up about 1/3 of the total water capacity. Even so, anything you hit with a good 30-40 pumps, is totally drenched.

Okay, lets start at square 1. As you may have read in other reviews, the hydro cannon sucks. HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!! What many people tend to overlook is that this is a DEFENSIVE weapon, not an offensive one. (If you want to charge into battle with this gun like in the commercials, wait until you are 14, or just get a thunderstorm. The Hydro Cannon IS quite heavy.) To get full affect from this gun, sling it over your shoulder like a bazooka, and position the shield so it covers your face*. (*Note: it doesn't really matter how wet your body gets, your face should be top priority due to the fact that if you are being blinded by water you cannot aim and defend yourself.) After this is complete, put one hand on the trigger (but still keep the weight on your shoulder) and start pumping. You should find it considerably easier to pump after this. (But make sure you still cover your face with your shield! Hold position, and wait for the battle to come to you. Once it does, you will be protected, and the enemy will be soaked!
Now, a battle scenario that happened to me yesterday. So, Friend #1 is killing me and his twin, Friend #2, with a nerf thunderstorm. (I was not using the hydro cannon then) Friend #2 and I teamed up on him, and he took evasive action. he grabbed the garden hose and a high-powered spray nozzle. We tried to stop him, but he was just too powerful. He kept blasting our faces, and we just couldn't take aim. That was when my mom came home with a newly purchased hydro cannon. I opened it immediatly and charged back into battle. That was when the tides turned completely. While I was protected, Friend #1 was experencing hose-power water blasts. I won the battle in the f4ew short minutes that followed.r
So, to wrap the hydro cannon up, it is a great defensive weapon with extreme soaking capability that is really fun. You just need to know how to use it.
