Superb photography,
By skag "skag" (New York, NY USA) - See all my reviews

I perused this book in Barnes and Nobles, and I have to say that "The New Nude" was one of the most provocative photography books I've seen. I'm not a photography aficionado, let alone an erotica-photography aficionado, but I have to say, some of these pictures, as jarringly candid about sex as they were, were all rendered beautifully.

A Great collection of Nudes,
By Photopro "Mike" (purcellville, va United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nerve: The New Nude (Hardcover)
This is a great book. Why? A few reasons. First off, it is wonderfully published. A good hardback with great quality photograph reproductions. Second, The photographers. This book packs in nudes from fairly famous photographers that get passed by a lot. Each photographer gets roughly three pages of space to have a few photographs, and most of them are great. I am especially moved by the increadible, previously unpublished, waist up portraits of Peter Gorman (naked rooms, naked in apartment 7). Before the photographs are shown, you get a brief biography of the photographer and how he/she goes about their creative process. Its quite interesting to see what motivates some of these guys. I highly suggest this book to any collector of nude/erotic photography. You will be pleased.

There is a great edge to the photos in this book and a real sense that NERVE has it's finger on the pulse of what's "hot".

Parental gem,
This review is from: Nerve/ The New Nude (Hardcover)
Here's another of illustrator Kristina Swarmer's brilliant little devotions to Yiddish Wisdom. Here she worked in tandem with Rae Meltzer, who was born in Russia and spoke Yiddish as her first language.
Once again in 78 delightful pages, she has assembled a collection of great Yiddish sayings, with excellent artwork, demonstrating the vast love of Jewish parents for their children. Doubtless some expressions reflect nearly universal parental devotion. Others are probably uniquely Jewish. In any case, all parents will doubtless appreciate this collection. For as noted in one of the 100-plus sayings included, "Experience is what we call the accumulation of our mistakes." I recommend experiencing this special little book. --Alyssa A. Lappen

what nerve,

I'm sorry. I found this book a little insipid. Not nearly as adventurous as the title would suggest. One would be better served with "Digital Diaries". If your gonna go, go all the way.
