This CD is ridiculous. It is by far Oscar's best. From start to finish the tracks are awesome. If you've never been to Space, Oscar gives you the next best thing. Oscar is one of the best, and this CD is a must have. If you love house music, this CD is for you.

Pefect buildup cd, captures the Space sound perfect!,

Being a Miami regular visitor (once a year), this cd truly captures what Space Miami is all about. It starts out nice and slow and perfectly builds up towards the end. The DVD is amazing as well, we put it on when we have people over and they are just amazed at how the crowd and music are captured. Highly recommended.

Solid live House mix ruined by obnoxious clubbers and mediocre tracks,

I've never been a fan of the Miami/New York house sound. However, I've always liked listening to the Murk Boys and their mixes. They seem to stray just a bit from the mainstream sound from time to time, which is a good thing. This mix by Oscar G. (one half of Murk) was recorded at Space, Miami and is a pretty solid mix overall. While it only has a few really good tracks the mix itself is pretty well put together. Here are my thoughts and track ratings;
1. Dancin' - Bingo Cache 6/10 (Nice beat but not a fan of the Jamaican vocals) 2. Chunky Buddha - Oscar G 6/10 (Another track with a beat but cheesy vocal samples) 3. Acloolic - Popof 8/10 (Superb tech-house track) 4. Mars - Sebastien Leger 8/10 (Another great track but mostly ruined by obnoxious clubbers and their whistles) 5. Me and You - Jewel Kid 6/10 (Average House) 6. Agent Blue - Guy J. 6/10 (More average House) 7. Fun Eleck - Dj Wady 6/10 (Yet more average House) 8. Components ((Alex Celler Tech Dub)) - Southern Brothers 7/10 (Nice heavy bassline and beat messed up by repetitive vocal samples) 9. South Beach Is Back (WMC Mix) - Calegari Briones 5/10 (Do we really need a Winter Music Conference Mix? What is this, an advert?) 10. I Need Someone ((Stoned Someone Remix)) - Ralph Falcon 5/10 (Typical female diva vocal House) 11. Dalmatian Days - Stryke 7/10 (Nice tech-house) 12. Deep In South America - Christian Falero 7/10 (Decent House track but with some morons in the background repeatedly yelling, "He has to pee, let's go!") 13. Back To Tribal/Strange (Dub Mix) - DJ Bruno 6/10 (Not sure which track it is but it's still average tribal house) 14. Rock Me Shake Me - Dms12 6/10 (Pretty average tech-house) 15. Magic Starter - Southern Brothers 6/10 (Another average track) 16. Piano Dub - Armand Pena 4/10 (Not a fan of piano in House music) 17. Compact Disciple ((Erich Ensastigue Mix)) - Zimbardo 6/10 (More Tribal house) Normally I really enjoy live mixes but this one really annoyed me at times. While I only found Oscar's distorted voice periodically addressing the crowd mildly bothersome, the obnoxious whistle blowing clubbers really ruined a lot of this mix for me. Let's be honest with ourselves...when was the last time you enjoyed being next to a clubber blowing a whistle non-stop to the beat? Add the guys yelling to each other in the background of one of the tracks that they have to "pee" and I've hit my "live mix" limitations. If you're able to overlook these annoyances and generally like Murk's sound then you'll more than likely enjoy this mix. It almost deserves 4 stars but the irritating clubbers and other background noise knock it down to a 3 out of 5.

braindead bump 'n grind,

hmmm, in reading the other reviews of this CD i have to really wonder if i'm listening to the same thing. "space miami" is a heavy, heavy tribal mix, filled with fat analog basslines and fat thudding drums and the occasional entry of crunchy industrial-ish noises. so what's the problem? well, the majority of the tracks are very basic -- good for moving a buzzed miami party crowd, but a poor listening experience. they're also all very samey, resorting to the same simplistic syncopation and heavy tribal drums that we've been hearing for years, and after a while the constant bulldozer of the unvarying bangin' drums numbs your brain. the mix is also bone-dry, without a hint of a melody in sight. not in itself a bad thing, but when the tracks are as simple as these are, it makes for an unfulfilling experience. (also a bit strange given the lush exuberance of oscar's excellent funky green dogs material.) it would have been so easy, for example, to evolve this sound without losing the danceability factor by mixing in more contemporary tech-house elements, as Digweed has so successfully done. so in summary - buy this is you're okay with switching your brain off and using it to move feet, but don't if you plan to listen to it at home. if the latter you're a lot better off with something in the same vein but more depth, such as saeed & palash.

Freaking Amazing Album & DVD,

Oscar G. (along with Ralph Falcon and DJ Abel) are the leaders of Miami's house music scene. This compact disc and DVD combination which was recorded live at Miami's "Space" nightclub captures not only the true essence of Miami on a Saturday night. Truly one of the best house albums released in recent years, I highly recommend this album to house lovers everywhere seeking true house and not the usual slew of bubblegum and awful pop (Lady GaGa anyone?) that is blaring through radios and music channels nowadays.

It's not too often I come across a mixed CD/download where a significant majority of the music gets an "A". This CD has mostly great, serious music, with maybe a couple of just-okay tunes. My complaint is that it's "live" so you're forced to hear shouting, whistling and even conversations throughout. I have other "live" CDs where the background noise is muted, and it recedes into the background after a few listens. Not the case with this album; the "live" aspect is very pronounced, to its detriment. It makes me wonder: were they too lazy to filter out the noise, or does some producer out there actually think it adds to the overall music experience to include all the noise?

Oscar continually finds a way to exceed himself. He has been a huge inspiration to me as a DJ, producer and house music aficionado. This is a must have in your collection, and the DVD shows you what part of a night in Miami is like when he takes the drivers seat in his residency at Space. OSCAR G IS THE NEW TENAGLIA!
