I'm a big "black coffee" fan & drink it regularly (translation: if I'm not shaking, I need another cup).

I USED to brew it from freshly ground beans or a favorite custom pre-ground coffee, till I discovered this at a local Mexican market (I live in Texas). This is a great, dark-roasted, very strong (mas fuerte) black coffee. DELICIOUS! If you like to drink plain, black coffee, you know that taste matters. This one has it & is one of my favorites. I truly don't understand why people pay so much for coffee pods when they could just drink Clasico. But to each his own; try it, I think you'll love it!

UPDATE 3/7/14: Just an FYI: dark roast coffees tend to have LESS caffeine than lighter-roast coffees. According to Nescafe, a typical cup of Clasico contains 57-65 mg of caffeine.

UPDATE 3/9/15: Another FYI. APPARENTLY, Nescafe is "updating" Clasico. I truly HOPE this is an experimental "improvement" that they decide to abandon, but I recently bought some Clasico at my local grocery store, opened the jar, & was confronted with something that smells, looks, and tastes like "Taster's Choice." Two Thumbs Down. How can you tell REAL Clasico from "others"? REAL CLASICO dried powder is a little finer than most AND it has a reddish, almost copperlike cast (not deep brown, like other instants). All Clasico I've purchased from Amazon is the REAL DEAL. A+!

I LOVE Nescafe Clasico!! I use the regular & the decaf, so I had to try this. This makes great, old fashioned "Diner Coffee"
It's coffee, the way it used to be, before Starbucks. It can be found for a substantially lower price at your local Mexican/Latino market. If you can't find it in your area, spend the extra to grab it here on Amazon. It's definitely worth trying, especially if you miss your regular ol' cuppa Joe.

OK, why instant coffee? The short story is I accidentally had some one time in a restaurant and actually liked it. I am the only coffee drinker in the house, so it is just so much easier with instant. Also, in the summer we go off grid, so it is so much easier to just boil water on the stove and make the taste to my liking. Less waste, too.

Now, I am not saying all instant coffee is good. I was buying the Walmart brand for a while and liked it, and evidently they switched vendors or something, because it started tasting like instant coffee. I have tried several brands, including Folgers and have taste tested compared with regular ground coffee and this holds up. (I prefer it) This one is the "light roast" which seems to suit my coffee taste buds the best. I was glad to find it on Amazon because I couldn't find it in the local stores. I could only find the "dark roast." Anyway.....I really like this and my occasional house guests do, too.

The "nasty" stereotype instant coffee earned was well-deserved in the old days. We avoided it for years, until we were served a few cups of Nescafe in European restaurants. It was hard to believe the product had been so much improved. We tried several variations available in the USA, and our favorite is the French Roast. However, that style is not available in our area, so "Clasico" is the next best thing, It is a strong, bold coffee, lacking any hint of burnt flavor. It is also wonderfully convenient for people who don't keep a coffeepot going all day.

Some people complain about the prices of instant coffee, per ounce. It should be noted that the amount of instant coffee used is tiny. Instant coffee will cost you only about 1/5 the price of the brew-it-yourself cups, and less than 1/20 of the price of coffee-shop coffee. It is very economical, and some of it (like Nescafe Clasico) tastes great, too.

I use 2.1 grams of instant coffee per cup (about a level teaspoon). That means there are 94 cups in a 7 ounce jar. If you paid 10 dollars for the jar, you are talking ten cents per cup!

Eleven bucks per jar? Are you kidding me? This items is usually less than six dollars at Kroger and Target. When did Amazon decide to start gouging customers. I used to shop this site all the time time, now I avoid it as much as possible because it is so overpriced. If you like Nescafe, this is NOT where you neede to be buying it.
