This is my second dehydrator, after a super-cheap model with no temperature control, and I can't believe the difference. Some may not like the fact that the heating unit and fan are on top; I do, because it means that if anything drips off the food you are dehydrating, it drips onto an easily-cleaned base rather than into a non-immersible heating unit. I've had good success using this with beef jerky, apple and banana chips, and even drying some leftover cilantro. (I live by myself and find a dehydrator great for dealing with the other half of an onion or other leftover produce.)

The service was great. But the actual product was very cheaply made and didn't fit very well together. The trays wouldn't stay together and I found myself always worried about if they were going to fall. The actual nesco dehydrator is just made out of [low-cost] plastic.

I actually got this dehydrator a few years ago as a Christmas present. The first time I tried to use it was a bust. But, lately I've been trying to save some money and figured making my own jerky was a good alternative. My first attempt was pretty successful.

I was worried that it wouldn't get to the right temperature to do the job. 24 hours after I started it up I was surprised to see that all the meat strips I had put in it had turned into jerky.

Great way to start making your own jerky and dehydrated camping, hiking, foods.

Thsi si a great dehydrator. it is cheap and makes GREAT beef jerky!
