Nesco American Harvest Clean-A-Screen Tray

This is a pack of two screens that are supposed to be identical to the one that came with the dehydrator.

It seemed to me they were a little bit heavier weight than the orginal but thats a good thing.

The main reason I got them was for easier cleanup. I like to dehydrate jerky made from a jerky gun. When I would squirt the jerky straight onto the trays it would tend to swell into the grills of the tray. This made it harder to remove and made cleanup a real mess. So I ended up squriting onto wax paper and moving them to the trays.

With these screens in place I can squirt right onto the screen/tray and it doesn't stick hard or create a mess. What little mess it creates is much easier to cleanup since it is on the surface and not in between the grids. For cleanup I leave the screen on the tray and use a nylong scrub brush. Works better than sponge or pad.

Of course you can also use these to dry smaller items that might fall through. But thats not my big concern right now. I'm happy to have less mess.

The only drawback I see is that they are overpriced. [money amount]for [money amount] worth of plastic. Also to make sure you cover all of your trays you have to buy 2 packs.

We have an apricot tree at my parents' house and my dad used to love to make frozen apricots. The problem with drying them however, is that they stick to the dehydrator as the sugars concentrate in the fruit.

If you do dried fruits (we do apples, pears and peaches) you know that they stick to the normal trays. Berries fall through. If you are into dehydrating your produce, these tray inserts come out so you can scrape off the dried product and wash them easily. I wish these and the jerky-fruit-leather sheets came with the dehydrator but they don't. If you grow vegetables and fruits, this is very useful for processing your crop.

This was a great addition to the dehydrator! I have been making jerky and using these the marinade doesn't mess up the dehydrator as much. Clean up is much easier and I don't have to worry about the smaller pieces of meat. It is also nice to just throw into the dishwasher to clean. Worth getting extra to use for all applications of the dehydrator!

Tried to use my Nesco Amer harvest without it, what a mess. The strawberries stuck to the tray, which resulted in needing to place them in the dishwasher. Ordered extra screens within days - what a difference - the food pops off very easily and the screens may go in the diswasher top rack if necessary! Only thing that could make the screens better is a smoother surface. The Nesco unit came with 1 and I am glad that I ordered four more.

If you are using your dehydrator frequently or even spuratically, you will need these liners for your trays. They are great because your food comes right off with ease and the clean up is SO easy! We just soak them in soapy water and wipe them off. You HAVE to get these--spend the few extra dollars, you will NOT regret it!

Clean up is simpler with these Nesco American Harvest Clean-A-Screen Trays, but hand washing them is not so simple. They are especially difficult to clean after making jerky, but they do come clean nicely if you toss them in the top rack of the dishwasher.

Don't believe that food won't stick! It will. But you will find that removing sticky items from these is much easier than removing it from the bare dehydrator racks.

So far, they seem relatively durable, and well worth the price.

These inserts are wonderful. I can dry small items like grapes (raisins) and they don't fall through the slots. I can also lift out the inserts and finished product slides off easily.

I loved the tray that came with my Nesco Dehydrator so much; I had to have four more! I buy a lot of fruit for my kids to eat, and I used to throw away a lot of fruit that would over ripen before they could eat it all (especially bananas). Once I got my dehydrator, I started making Fruit Leathers with the leftovers. my kids actually preferred it to the fresh fruit!
All I do is remove the peel from any fruit that is past its peak, throw it in the food processor, liquefy it, scoop it onto the Clean-A-Screen Tray and place it in the dehydrator. When it is dry I take the tray out- and give it to my kids to peel and place in airtight bags - they usually eat it all and never put any in bags! I have even used it as "treat when you finish your homework!" Can you believe that - they are eating fruit with no sugar added and think it is a special treat! AWESOME!!!!

The only real negative thing I can say about these screens is that you don't also have the choice to buy them individually. Our dehydrator has either 5 or 7 trays and you're stuck with an even number of these things, so you'll always have an extra.

Guess that's not a bad thing so much. Just being a cheapstake I guess.

Great item and must have for dehydrating fruit.

I've been doing a lot of dehydrating lately, and fruits are the stickiest thing to dry. This screen sure helps in getting fruits off the tray with less work.
