Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Who says that a busy schedule equals frozen dinners every night of the work week? Take a few minutes to prep in the morning and Nesco’s Slow ‘n Ready cooker can have a hearty family meal of chicken casserole or beef stew ready by the time you return home. The 3.5-quart cooker holds a huge quantity of food so it’s perfect for heating up vats of mulled cider for holiday entertaining or simmering Sloppy Joe fixings to feed a large Super Bowl crowd. The Slow ‘n Ready has three temperature settings: low (180 degrees F), high (195 degrees F), and warm (165 degrees F) for keeping cooked foods at eating temperature or for warming drinks. A unique "circle of heat" provides even heat distribution throughout the cooker. The cooker’s ceramic dish is covered in a plastic cool-touch exterior to protect hands and lifts out (with the help of oven mitts) for tabletop serving. A tempered glass cover with a stainless-steel rim seals in moisture during cooking for delicious end results. This cooker comes with a double spoon rest as a bonus gift and is covered by a one-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

4.0 out of 5 stars I nice blue sclow cooker, October 8, 2005

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have had this pot for 2 years without any problems. After reading the reviews here, I feel lucky that mine has not given me any problems. I have cooked soups, breakfast cereal, tofu, lasagna, chilli with great success. The pot is removable, making it easy to clean. There are three heat settings (low, high and warm) and, unlike in other SCookers, there is a considerable difference among the three (i.e., when it is in "high," your food boils). I have not placed the pot in the dishwasher (maybe that's what you're supposed to do) and there are no cracks in it. Thus, based on my experience, I recommend it (too bad for the other buyers).

One drawback of this nifty little machine is that it does not have a timer to shut off or go to "warm" setting.

Finally, for those out there looking for healthy and/or vegan recipes for the slowcooker, I recommend the little vegan slow cooker. The Nesco and that little book make a great pair.

1.0 out of 5 stars crock crazed, May 28, 2005
By
squirrlygrrl (jersey city, NJ) - See all my reviews
The glaze on my crack developed bad crazing (small cracks inthe glaze) and a brown liquid seeped through from the food side to the bottom of the crock. Amazon was good enough to send me a second, but it did the same thing. in the process of retunring. If the glaze gets porus, it can prob get crock ino my food as well and food into my crock, you know? not good. It cooked well and evenly, functially it was great. But the crock issue is a deal breaker.
