4.0 out of 5 stars I nice blue sclow cooker
I have had this pot for 2 years without any problems. After reading the reviews here, I feel lucky that mine has not given me any problems. I have cooked soups, breakfast cereal, tofu, lasagna, chilli with great success. The pot is removable, making it easy to clean. There are three heat settings (low, high and warm) and, unlike in other SCookers, there is a considerable...

This review is from: Nesco American Harvest SC-35S-1209 Slow 'n Ready 3.5-Quart Slow Cooker, Delicious Red (Kitchen)
I have had this pot for 2 years without any problems. After reading the reviews here, I feel lucky that mine has not given me any problems. I have cooked soups, breakfast cereal, tofu, lasagna, chilli with great success. The pot is removable, making it easy to clean. There are three heat settings (low, high and warm) and, unlike in other SCookers, there is a considerable difference among the three (i.e., when it is in "high," your food boils). I have not placed the pot in the dishwasher (maybe that's what you're supposed to do) and there are no cracks in it. Thus, based on my experience, I recommend it (too bad for the other buyers).

One drawback of this nifty little machine is that it does not have a timer to shut off or go to "warm" setting.

Finally, for those out there looking for healthy and/or vegan recipes for the slowcooker, I recommend the little vegan slow cooker. The Nesco and that little book make a great pair.

But the crock issue is a deal breaker.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Product, July 22, 2007
This product isn't the prettiest blue. I don't know how to explain the color, but I don't consider it to be cobalt blue like the Kitchenaid product line. It is much brighter, almost neon-like.

I like the cool touch feature of this crockpot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Please bring it back!, June 30, 2007

I've had this slow cooker four years now and never had a problem. It cooks items so much more efficiently and evenly than any crock pot I've ever used.

Plus anything on the counter--a bread bag, etc.--is shielded from the heat because of thick insulated plastic surrounding the crock and heating element.

It cleans up well, is the perfect size and the black version I have is attractive enough to stay on my counter year-round. The only problem I have is I can't find another one to buy for my daughter. I've looked around at other models and haven't found another one that seems as well insulated and as well made as this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sides won't burn you, but had to replace ceramic bowl, November 30, 2006

Overall I feel this is a good little slow cooker. It has simple settings, Lo, Hi, Warm, and Off. The outsides are plastic not metal, so even when it has been cooking on high for hours, it does not get hot enough on the surfaces to burn you if you touch it accidentally. The size is good for serving up to 4 people. Have owned and used this slow cooker occasionally since 2004. Mine is the red color, and some of the plastic parts are changing colors a little to a darker red/purple hue. No big deal though.

Only issue is that the ceramic bowl cracked after only a few uses. Nesco customer service was very good (in 2004) and replaced the bowl for free (I had to pay to ship the cracked bowl back). Would have given it 5 stars if the bowl had not cracked, and would have given less than 4 stars if customer service had not been so good.
