Nesco, a company most known for the manufacture of food dehydrators, has created a line of spices designed to enhance the flavor of homemade jerky. This package includes six seasoning and six cure packets and it takes one of each to flavor 1 pound of meat. Beef or pork is most commonly used, but other meats can be substituted. The resulting taste carries the requisite saltiness combined with a hint of hickory smoke flavor. For spicier jerky, add 1/4 teaspoon or more of cayenne pepper. Drying can take place in a food dehydrator or any conventional oven. Other seasoning flavors available for purchase include: teriyaki, pepperoni, hot 'n spicy, and Cajun. -- Amy Arnold

We tried the Nesco Teriyaki and Nesco Hot/Spicy seasonings, but really preferred the "ORIGINAL" flavor.

Our favorite thing to do with it is make the beef jerky with ground beef. I even got my boyfriend to use the beef jerky gun.

Single serving packets, no measuring required. Open packs, mix with ground beef, put meat in extruder gun, squeeze onto drying racks. BAM! Good to go! Well in about 6-8 hours (give or take).

If you are trying to decide which seasonings to buy, go with the Original flavor, it really is the best.

There is no other brand that can compare to this. We have tried many other brands and do not like any of them.

Nesco is truely the best Jerky spice on the market.
