4.0 out of 5 stars Good for home use
This slicer does a pretty good job for the home cook. We've only used it for slicing meats and it has pretty much met our expectations. We do have a couple of issues. First, the blade is not parallel with the blade guard and there doesn't seem to be any way to adjust this. It causes the slices to have a small "tag" where the meat hits the blade at the end. Also, we...

With this Item there are some pluses and some minuses. On the plus side it has a powerfull enough motor to slice chesses, which some slicers dont recommend and cleanup is a whiz. On the minus side, the material the slicer is made of drags a bit on the item sliced, sometimes making slices uneven. The grim reality of life is that meats and cheeses slide easier over plastic than they do over aluminum or steel. This problem likely exists with most slicers made of steel and aluminum, so dont discount this item becaues of this review. The easy cleanup is a good tradeoff for the functionality issues. Overall, for a slicer that I use every other week im satisfied with the purchase, but just a bit disappointed with the the function. My old plastic krupps slicer sliced thinner, although much more difficult to clean.

First, the blade is not parallel with the blade guard and there doesn't seem to be any way to adjust this. It causes the slices to have a small "tag" where the meat hits the blade at the end. Also, we were surprised that the blade did not rotate faster considering the size of the motor (which was one of it's selling points). The instructions could have been much better to possibly include any adjustments that could be made such as the angle of the blade. All in all we are pleased and would recommend it for home use.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Disaster, December 30, 2008
This review is from: Nesco FS-150PR Professional 150-Watt Food Slicer (Kitchen)
I bought this product locally and, after the first slice or two was made, I was immediately disappointed. I was slicing meat and the blade did not finish the cut. Instead the slices collected at the base of the machine in the back all connected like paper dolls. There is a space between the blade and the back of the machine that allows whatever you're slicing to fall through. I continued to use it, hoping it would get better or I would catch on to some secret trick. When I took it apart for cleaning - which it does clean up easily - I noticed the casing around the blade had burned or melted or rubbed to where it was noticeably marred. Luckily the store I bought it at let me exchange it for a different type of machine altogether.

Ordrering and delivery were fantastic
Item recieved item in excellent condition,
It was easy to assemble,
This was my first home version,
Disregarding all the professional/industrial version I have use in the past,
this one wasn't all that bad,
Where this product loses a star in it's rating, in my opinion and thus only gets a four star rating is in two areas:
One, the blade revolutions at 85 rpm, even if your not cutting cheese you'll get a bit of a drag on the blade and motor (Becareful), but slower can equate to safer use,
And two, the width for cutting dial you must physically hold in order to maintain any consistency in cutting thickness,
It's easy to disassemble and clean up,
It's easy to store either counter top or in typical cabinet shelfing.
For the price I really am satisfied, remember you get what you pay for!

5.0 out of 5 stars These slicers do a great deal for a fraction of what a commercial unit can cost., December 31, 2010

We bought this unit for our married daughter. She has a large family and really appreciates having this slicer. We, her parents, have had one for three years now and just love it. It will do almost everything that a big expensive commercial unit can do. My wife has worked in food service for many years and says that a commercial unit costs between $5,000 and $12,000 and weighs around 40 pounds. So for home use these units are terrific!

The RPM's of this machine were just not up to the challenge. Not at all what I expected. Plus, I lost money in the deal because I had to pay to ship it back. Prompt shipment to me, but rather slow in responding when it was not what I wanted. If you need to slice tomatoes and onions, this slicer is for you. If you have more heavy duty needs, you will not like this slicer. BEWARE!

Junk - Professional junk, Don't waste your money and time buying this garbage, it's really noise, slow, it doens't do thin slices at all and you only can work 10 minutes, after that you have to live 1 hour to cool it off. What kind of proffesional equipment is this?? Shame on Amazon, selling this kind stuff. Please be more carefull on what you sell. If is possible try it out before selling. I'm really, really desappointed.

This was the quietist and smoothest machine I have used. I loved it the very first time I used it. Very easy to use and did a GREAT job; sliced through my ham like a hot knife through butter. Afterwards it was very easy to clean up. Great features on it also. Highly recommend it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid and functional, but sloppy manufacturing, December 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Nesco FS-150PR Professional 150-Watt Food Slicer (Kitchen)
The slicer has a good blade and works well. However, the attention to detail in the manufacturing sucks. I had to trim one of the rubber pads/feet and leave on out in order to keep the machine from rocking; also, the guide/tray for the food to be sliced is offset a bit, so it always keeps a little angle between the slicing plane and the support and leaves a bigger gap than necessary.
