5.0 out of 5 stars Best Blender I've ever used!

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice concept, poor design
The idea is great. All of these pieces, 1 motor piece. Great, right?

Well the chopped attachment connects to the wand poorly. I used it once and it's already hard to connect again.

I use the immersion blender the most. It also has the largest flaw. There is a rubber gasket under the blade that traps food and water, which turns to mildew and...

I am a big fan making hummus and smoothies, but taking out my big blender was such a hassle in my small kitchen. This blender is absolutely perfect. Powerful enough to crush frozen fruit, but very easy to hold. I was worried about immersion blenders because I have carpal tunnel syndrome, and the reviews on other models mentioned they are difficult to grip. However, holding this blender is easy. I also use the frother and the whisk attachment frequently. Since I bought this, I've never gone back to my big blender. Cleanup is an absolute breeze, and this immersion blender is way cheaper than the other models I checked out online. I highly recommend this!

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid design, plenty of features, March 20, 2010

I bought this to replace a cheap $5 immersion blender. The failure mode was that the blender connection was metal, but the motor side was plastic and got tore up. I attempted to find a reasonably priced immersion blender with both parts made of metal but couldn't. As a result I settled on this one based on mostly good reviews, more attachments than most and the variable speed motor. I use this to mix protein drinks after my workout. After about 2 months of use, I am definitely impressed with the quality of it. The blender is a little heavy, but conveys the feeling that it is solidly built. I've only used the standard mixing attachment and the cup, which has handy graduates in mL and oz. I've used the wisk, but just as a hand wisk and it worked fine. The mixer can be a little hard to clean because there is an o-ring seal behind the blades. So far, the plastic gear on the motor doesn't show any wear. I'm hoping that this model is built and aligned well enough that I'll never have to worry about the plastic ring gear failing.

I use the immersion blender the most. It also has the largest flaw. There is a rubber gasket under the blade that traps food and water, which turns to mildew and mold. Can't clean under or around that. So my stick blender is pretty much not usable, because its not sanitary.

1.0 out of 5 stars The first thing we've bought through here that really didn't live up to expectations..., May 26, 2010

Well, it was great while it lasted... but that wasn't long. About a month after we bought it (so about 10 milkshakes) it wore out. The gears wore and while some parts of it are still useable, now it does get hot and there is a bad noise coming from it if we bother with it at all. Worst deal I could imagine since that is about 2 dollars a day for the life of the product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Company completly unresponsive, July 22, 2010

This review is from: Nesco HB-17 Professional Grip 'n Go Immersion Handheld Blender with Attachments (Kitchen)
I bought this blender just a few weeks ago and I am severely disappointed:

The blender itself works fine and does a good job in blending soups and pancake-dough!

However, after only a few light uses, chopping onions etc., the little food-chopper attachment broke. I am not very technical but my Engineer-BoyFriend assures me, that the chopper itself is fine and just the little cap is broken in a way that it does not grab the blades in the cup anymore, rendering the whole thing useless. I wrote the company twice, registered my item etc. and I have yet to receive an answer (2 weeks since I last wrote them, 4 since I first contacted them).

The blender is supposed to have 1-year warranty, but how are you supposed to get that, if the companies policy on enforcing that warranty is 'Ignore the client till the warranty has worn out - even if thats a full year'!

So my tip: buy a nice little hand-blender that is cheap (since these are not heavy duty appliances anyway) and then spend some more money on a real food-chopper and in both cases bypass this bad joke of a company!!!

I have had a 10$ blender in my first kitchen and that poor thing outperformed this piece of junk by far!!!

Very powerful, includes lots of settings and attachments, very high quality tool. Pretty heavy and tall, but well-balanced and up to any task. Cleans easily too.

This is a strong, well-designed and built product. Not lightweight, but certainly not wimpy. Looking for an inexpensive unit that can do the job, buy this product.

1.0 out of 5 stars I liked it till it stopped working!, October 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Nesco HB-17 Professional Grip 'n Go Immersion Handheld Blender with Attachments (Kitchen)
This was a great little blender until after only a few uses the motor completely stopped working. I sent it back to the company (at my expense)and received another motor unit. Yesterday I got out my blender after my initial test to see if it worked, and the blades turned once and the motor has stopped working again. Yes my blender is still under the 1 year warranty, but I'm quite frustrated that I have to pay shipping expenses only to receive another defective product. By the time I continue paying shipping expenses I could buy a competitors product that is more reliable.

I can see from other recent reviewers that I'm not the only one with this problem. Please steer clear of this product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Started out strong, but dwindled out fast, August 26, 2010
This review is from: Nesco HB-17 Professional Grip 'n Go Immersion Handheld Blender with Attachments (Kitchen)
I started out loving this blender. It was fairly strong, had multiple speed settings, and had lots of attachments (although I only used the whisk). The button is extremely difficult to hold for any length of time and it gets extremely warm, and then hot very quickly. All that would have been a nuisance and I could have gotten over it if it didn't start vibrating and then shock me repeatedly the last time I used it. I can't honestly say it was electrocution, but its as close as I ever want to get. I could have been a fluke, but be aware.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this thing and use all of the attachments, March 23, 2011
This review is from: Nesco HB-17 Professional Grip 'n Go Immersion Handheld Blender with Attachments (Kitchen)
I honestly use this thing everyday. I've had it for about 3 months at this point. I use it for making whipped cream, mixing pancake batter, making soups, milkshakes, chopping ingredients, frothing milk for cappucinos and probably more things that I just can't think about right now. It's really chunky and seems to be well built. I love that it has variable speeds like a counter model even the little "turbo" button when you need a little extra "oomph" to get the job done. It comes with everything you need to mount it to the wall which is a dream. I love not having to take it out everytime I use it. I've had no problems cleaning it so far. I'd recommend it to anyone who spends enough time in the kitchen to need a gadget with all of these options.
