The taste is much sweeter than normal milk so kids usually really like it.

My own political statement above falls within the context of a product rating arising solely from my assement of the actual performance and quality of the product.

There are larger quantity packs available, but the 8 pack is plenty and much cheaper than the single can online or in the grocery store.

In remote Alaska we never get deliveries of fresh milk. Unless you have milking goats out here you'll never have fresh milk. This canned milk is a great alternative to fresh milk. It's much thicker, but perfect for baking when watered down. It's great for mixing with fresh berries, drinks like coffee and hot chocolate, and cereal. The taste is much sweeter than normal milk so kids usually really like it. It's perfect for camping and tastes good warm or chilled. I suggest trying it mixed into coffee or with frozen berries.

Taste: 5 out of 5
Child-Friendliness: 5 out of 5
Usefullness: 5 out of 5

Great things to try it with:
Hot drinks
Making milkshakes
Baking (when watered down)
Cereal
Fruit and Berries
Chocolate Milk

Can't say much more than what's obvious - 8 cans, decently priced, deliverd to your doorstep. Great for work to replace halfnhalf/creamer, or to add into some instant oatmeal packets.

I've used Carnation Evaporated Milk in my pumpkin pies for the past 40 years. From time to time I've used other brands as well, and the quality of these other brands is not as consistently good as is that of Carnation. The pumpkin custard always turns out really smooth and creamy with Carnation. I don't know of another brand readily available in the supermarket that does a better job for your cooking and baking needs than Carnation.

My whole family including my late parents always used Carnation, so naturally I prefer it. Seems it has a better shelf life and even after opening. It is good in coffee and many foods. Makes delicious gravy's. Also when I run out of regular whole milk, I mix a can of Carnation evaporated milk and a can of filtered water and I have regular milk. Tastes great, just like any milk you buy in the carton. I suggest you give it a go and see for yourself. Thanks Carnation Milk for the many years we enjoyed your milk.

Some time ago I received some home made chocolate chip cookies and when I came home for the day looking forward to digging into them, a crisis arose from the fact that there was only about 1/4 cup of milk left in the gallon container in the fridge. It was too late to go back out to the store. Desperation drove me to the previously unthinkable remedy of drinking diluted evaporated milk as a substitute. The result was awful tasting -- the yellow goop in the can just could not be unevaporated to produce anything resembling the fresh milk, which was to be the critical adjunct to the full enjoyment of these outstanding cookies.

A similar crisis arose more recently with a gift of some whoopie pies from a friend. However, things were different this time: I had some cans of Carnation Evaporated Milk as sold here. It was white and it did not smell like baby formula that had been sitting around too long. My desperation again drove me to attempt to produce "fresh" milk by dilution. It took a bit of expermentation with the amount of dilution and some ice cubes to make sure it was ice cold. The result was "fresh" milk that was not merely satisfactory, but excellent. I had produced ice cold "fresh" whole milk that had constency and taste that was very close to actual fresh milk.

My experience above changed my usage patterns of evaporated milk. For one thing, I make certain I use Carnation Evaporated Milk, and I frequently find myself prefering to simply mix up some milk for drinking rather than head out to the store when I run out of fresh milk. Naturally, I am similarly disposed to rely on Carnation Evaporated Milk for a range of uses, such as cooking and milkshakes, whereas heretofore I avoided using the yellow, sweet, goopy types of evaporated milk that I found repulsive.

Carnation milk is always good for toddlers and young children. It's not only nutritious, but filling. Buying by the case saves money.
