First, for all of you who have been looking for this product, Nestle's had a problem with their production. It will not be available until they get their act together.

Second, I have tried many instant, non-fat powdered milk brands and this is still my favorite. I bought the Saco brand at Christmas, and while it was good, it is a bit different than the Carnation brand.

Third, I don't think it's over-priced. Dairy has risen and will continue to rise because they are using corn for fuel instead of feeding it to the cows. I live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and I don't believe I have ever seen a box this big even offered in any of the stores I frequent. This size combined with free shipping--I think it's a great bargain.

If you keep it in your freezer and take it out as you need it, it will have a better flavor than leaving it on the shelf. This goes for all powdered milks. I even keep my homemade hot chocolate mix in the freezer for the same reason.

I hope it becomes available soon! Amazon, thanks for offering it for sale!

If indeed this is a 4.4 pound box, it's $11.99 in the grocery stores on the west coast.....

This is the best-tasting brand of powdered milk I've tried. It tastes much better than normal skim milk from a carton. Since it tastes so good it's perfect for anything that calls for skim milk - mixing with Ovaltine/Chocolate syrup, and all kinds of recipes.

We use Subscribe and Save to always have this in the house. In the past we would buy milk and half of it would go bad, then we needed it for something and didn't have it. We use this in cooking, baking for smoothies, everything you would normally use milk for. I use it in my breakfast shakes to make them extra creamy instead of just adding water.

If you are going to be drinking straight or in cereal, I recommend making a bottle of milk in advance to chill. It seems to taste better when chilled overnight if drinking straight.

Lastly, you may want to jump right to getting the big bag like I did, but don't. It actually works out cheaper to get the smaller bags. Have no idea why.

I am taking away a star because the last 3 bags we have received have been missing the scoop. I don't know if the company is cheaping out, but the instructions on the bag still say 1 scoop equals 1/3 cup...

This dry milk is super easy to mix. My kids will drink it in a cup, on cereal or in baked goods. Great product for the money.

I use two dry spoonfuls in my coffee for a fat free creamy cup of coffe without cooling it down too fast.

I get it at BJ's for $13.49.

Here's an item we always have around the house, although we often buy it in smaller containers. It's an excellent product and we can make up a batch of skim milk in very short order. My wife uses it for cooking and baking. She adds it to the baby's food. She uses it as a creamer for coffee and tea. We take it along for camping and it provides milk without the need for a fridge. We rely on it when we inadvertently run out of milk and can't immediately get to the grocery store. The taste is excellent, especially if you are used to skim milk and drink it very cold. This is very useful stuff to have around.

Carnation has always been the American dry milk choice, but this price is way high! Check out Nido, which is dry whole milk: Nestle Nido Milk Powder, Imported, 14-Ounce Cans (Pack of 3) and also is a great (good fat) coffee creamer and makes awesome bread and mashed potatoes!

My parent's both aspirate a little, so proper nutrition is always a concern. Even though my father likes Ensure, his digestive system can't tolerate it so we had to find a substitute. This powdered milk helps with his protein levels and actually makes the smoothies that he drinks taste much better. I do have to be careful not to over do it with even this product for him or he has some digestive upset but so far he is not losing any more weight and has been using this for several months.

The product itself is very good, I found the exact item at a local store for $18.99 and paid $29.99 on amazon. I should have checked around before ordering. I won't make that mistake again. My son works overseas in an area where it is not easy to get milk, and this is a perfect solution to our situation. I found that the taste for instant dry milk has changed over the years and it has a good flavor to it. I would highly recommend this product as a substitute for fresh milk
