5.0 out of 5 stars Brings back so many childhood memories!! January 28, 2006
AS I kid my mom used to buy this stuff by the case! It was awesome! I started buying it for my nephews and nieces and they LOVE it. Everytime they come to my house, they go to the cabinet to get the malt and to the freezer to get the ice cream so we can make malted milk shakes! It is a family tradition that will be around in my family as long as they sell this product!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Stuff March 15, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase
My local stores have not carried the chocolate flavored malted milk anymore for the last 8-9 years. My mother-in-law who lives in the mid-West shipped me a case several years ago and I have been hording it like a mizer. I love this stuff...it was comfort food when I was sick or just needed a treat while growing up. So glad I finally found it after numerous google and internet searches...please keep selling it!! If you do, I will buying!!

5.0 out of 5 stars For you health buffs, this is an alkalizing drink November 13, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase
Besides tasting delicious when mixed with cold milk (and it mixes better now than it did a few decades ago), it is important to remember that the body resists disease better when it has a slightly alkaline pH than an acid pH. Eating meats, sweets, and junk food will get you an acid pH. A couple of glasses of this daily will help, but not guarantee, you keep a healthy body acid/alkaline balance. Greatly reduces the chance you will get or suffer long from canker sores in the mouth resulting from over-acidity. This drink is the only substance I have ever found which speeds their healing. And it's just plain enjoyable to drink.

2.0 out of 5 stars Price now out-of-sight August 10, 2009
Just to add my protest to the others:

I purchased 4 13oz jars from Amazon in October 2007 for $12.32 plus $7.23 in shipping.

This same order in January 2008 (yes, I use a LOT of malted milk) was still $12.32 but shipping was $13.75

In August 2008 (did I mention LOTS of malted milk?) the price had increased to $12.48 but shipping was only $3.90

The current Amazon listing does not have the 4-pack, but does list the 6-pack for over $30 PLUS another $17+ for shipping.

We all need to find another source or get Amazon to keep its merchants from gouging us on price.

3.0 out of 5 stars why not sold by Amazon anymore? February 18, 2009
What happened? I bought 4 jars of Carnation malted milk in July 2008, for $12.32, from Amazon, eligible for free shipping. Now the price has doubled, and is no longer eligible for free shipping. I love malted milk, but these new prices are criminal.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best, but hard to find March 4, 2008
By Saki
I love this stuff! Really chocolatey and malty, much better than the bottled "Whopper" chocolate sauce/drink mix. For some reason, no retail stores around here seem to carry it (they only have the vanilla). What a relief to find it here - I no longer have to spend part of my vacations out East in grocery stores, stocking up so I can have it at home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why is this stuff so hard to find?!! November 14, 2009
By W. Reed
I have been a huge fan of this, the ONLY authentic malted mix, in my estimation, since childhood 6 decades ago.

I can understand that not every grocery store might want to carry it, but I am absolutely baffled that it is such a rarity on ANY grocery stores' shelves!

I guess when Nestle bought Carnation, it became just another product and no one is really attempting to market it. More's the pity.

I have found it on the shelves of a WalMart superstore in Kingston, NY, as well as the Kingston Shoprite down the street from the Walmart. Kingston is the largest population center for a radius of about 15 miles, and boasts a meager population of about 23,500. 2 stores within a half-mile of each other carry it where population is so sparse.

I live in Westchester county, in the suburbs of NYC (pop. 8,000,000) and can't find it anywhere! Not at the A&P, Super Stop and Shop, NOWHERE! I have to drive to Harlem, 20 mi. away, in NYC to find it.

My opinion is that it's a failure of Nestle's salespeople. SOMEONE within a 5-mile radius of Mamaroneck, NY (pop. 18,350, in a densely populated area) should carry it!

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice; But What's With The Price? April 11, 2009
I see somebody else griped about this pricing. Is there an error somewhere? I've ordered it from Groceries Express for $4.45 for the 13-ounce jar ($3.88 for the chocolate version). And I never thought of G-E as particularly cheap.
