Fantastic!,

This review is from: Nestle Milo, 14.1-Ounce Units (Pack of 3) (Grocery)
In the great trifecta of British powdered drinks to be mixed with milk and sugar, Horlicks the most malty, Milo is medium chocolately and malty, and Ovaltine seems to be the most chocolately.
All 3 are basically comfort drinks when plain milk just won't do. All 3 are powders to which you add milk and sugar to get a sweet malty drink, the latter two with chocolate flavor as well. I love all 3 drinks. But if you are drinking this for nostalgia's sake, make sure you get the Milo from where ever your nostalgia springs from because Milo is made in different countries and they all taste a little different. For me, I love Milo for it's good mix of chocolate and malt, not too much of either, and a great comfort drink for cold nights.

This Milo is grainy, pebble-y and less sweet. Must have been made for a different demographic? Not the same as the one I grew up with - the Milo sold in Asia is powdery, sweeter and has a richer, more chocolatey taste. Unfortunately, I just can't get past the significant difference in taste... Buyers should definitely take note (in case this is important!).
Edited on Nov 2011: Ok, so maybe my initial review was a bit harsh. After some time, I've come to like this one too. It's not the Milo I grew up with but it is a nice change.

I grew up drinking Milo so I was getting my supplies from Asia. Then I decided to try this via Amazon. It's not bad except more crystallized chunks inside versus smooth powder. Taste a little less strong than the Milo I get from Asia.

The best way to start my morning is with a big cup of Milo. Unfortunately I've run out and in the meantime must be satisfied with coffee. -- Jenny

I first learned about Milo in Canada from some Australians, and just loved it with coffee. Two weeks of the combo up there on a guided camping trip and I was hooked enough to buy some online here in the States when I returned. I have not tried it as a hot or cold chocolate drink, but using one mounded tablespoon in a latte cup of coffee is delicious. Perhaps it is like a mocha (have never tried one), but so easy and SOOOOO GOOD. I believe a 14.1 ounce container will last two months for 1 person using it as I did and once a day. In addition to the flavor, I like the fact Milo also contains a combination of B vitamins and magnesium, which according to the label helps release energy from proteins, fats and carbohydrates in food. I never drink my coffee at home without it!

Where is the Colombian Milo?,

This is definetely not the Colombian produced Milo I grew up with. It varies in flavor from country to country of origin. Not bad, but not the same

I grew up drinking this and the quality of the drink wasbetter then. The pebbles were bigger and now its smaller but I am really happy to still see this drink today now after all these years.

many European blogs use this for puddings and baked items, so I thought I would try it; really flavorful as a hot beverage, not as strong in baking as I would like, and not as malt-flavored as we would like...

I ordered a 3 pack and it arrived crushed.
Not the box it came in, but the cans themselves. Looked like some big trucker sat down and ate his lunch on them. Anyway, so they were crushed so bad that the cans were breached. And there's no way I'm about to do a taste test on it to figure out what happened. So Amazon doesn't do returns on food products, but as the item must have been damaged, before it was shipped (due to the box it came in being un-satupon) and not during. They kindly replaced it without any hassles. My replacement was just fine and the squirrels decided they weren't as fussy as me and loved the milo I left for them.

Milo is made in many different places around the world and apparently modified for local tastes. It's particularly popular in Malaysia (which is where I discovered it). In addition to that, I'd only had the Singapore version before, which is sweeter, less grainy, and dissolves a bit more easily in cold milk relative to this version, which is made in Colombia. But it's still a good product regardless.
