NetAppeal College Selection Guide [Paperback]

Trudy Kaehler (Author)

Out of Print--Limited Availability.

Book Description

May 1, 1998
NetAppeal College Selection Guide is a winning game plan to help high school athletes who want to play sports in college choose the right school. The book looks at how athletes can find the school that fits right athletically and academically; how they can put the recruiting process in perspective; and how proactive or reactive they should be in finding the right school and athletic program for themselves. The book's primary goal is to help student athletes make the right college decision and to help them take charge of the college selection process.

NetAppeal College Selection Guide includes information about the competitive college arena; how and when athletes should market themselves; real, personal recruiting experiences; as well as targeted strategies to find the right school and factors to consider in decision making.

The book includes a NetAppeal College Selection Worksheet and a NetAppeal College Decision Making Chart to help athletes plan and target their futures.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Many books are available to help high school students learn about colleges and their educational programs. Other books deal with how to win an athletic scholarship. The NetAppeal College Selection Guide is unique with its combined focus on athletic and academic components of a college search, which are presented in a practical and personal manner. The book helps athletes realize that they can take charge of their college selection process and not wait to hear from college coaches. It also helps students research schools and their athletic programs, rather than basing judgments on stereotypical thinking.

About the Author

Trudy Kaehler, award-winning professional communicator, educator and parent, became aware of how little information is available to high school athletes and their families when she began the college search process with her daughter, a basketball player. While continuing her work as a financial services marketing communications executive, she wrote the NetAppeal College Selection Guide to help students and their families learn from her research and experiences. Ms. Kaehler received a B.A. from Brown University, a M.Ed. from Boston College, and a M.S. in communications from Boston University.
