SmartSwipe secures your computer by protecting your sensitive information as you swipe your card through the device. Since your personal information is protected before it enters your computer, it is no longer vulnerable to these kinds of malicious software attacks. Your credit card information is encrypted (scrambled) as you swipe your card through the device. Therefore, it is already encrypted when it reaches your computer, so if you have anything malicious on your computer, hackers will not be able to get any useful information.

I live in a small town so I order a lot of items online. I have had my credit card identity stolen and someone was using it in Australia, and there was one other time it was stolen as well. Although my credit info was stolen at a restaurant, using my credit card online became a real fear for me. Thanks to NetSecure SmartSwipe Reaader, I no longer have fear of using my credit card to make purchases online. The reader is so simple to use: When I am ordering online using my Reader and I get to the "payment" page, all I do is plug the Reader into my computer and blue lights come on to show it is ready. I then swipe my credit card as shown on the side of the Reader and a picture of my credit card appears. When I confirm that this is the card I swiped, my credit info is downloaded from the Reader to the payment page. Under the credit card info on the payment page, it shows that my credit card info is "locked" and that anyone seeing this page, including myself, cannot see my credit info. It is such a relief to know that no one else can read my credit info and that I can order online with "Peace of Mind."
I would highly recommend this product to anyone concerned about personal identity being stolen online. I have seen more expensive and less expensive readers but this price was just right for me and the quality is excellent.

Amazon Verified Purchase
Bought this to make secure purchases on my Windows laptop when I am out of town (does not work on Mac, which is my preferred home computer). Finally works on Firefox (7.0.1), I refuse to use Internet Explorer, and it doesn't work on Chrome. It works, but it does take some setup and you have to have some computer/internet experience to figure it out. In all fairness, I did not contact their customer support, which is available via phone & internet form. Once setup, it is a matter of remembering to hit the SmartSwipe button embedded into the upper left corner of your browser when you are making your secure purchase. It is good to have the piece of mind that if I have to make a purchase while out of town & not on my own home network, that I can use the SmartSwipe on my Windows laptop & my credit card number remains safe.

I have been using the smart-swipe since November 2010 with modest success.
When it works it works great; unfortunately, the success rate is about 20% when used about a dozen times each month.
The Pros are:
- Easy to use
- Prompt tech support (... you'll need it!)
The Cons are:
- VAST majority of web sites are incompatible, which means that they don't recognize the card number; they see it as a bunch of symbols instead of numbers.
- My most-used credit card usually needs to be swiped multiple times before the reader will recognize it.
- Not compatible with Google Chrome.
In summary, I am almost infinitely patient, so I will continue to use this device in hopes that they will someday figure it out, 'cuz it's a good idea.
If you set your hopes to high, you will be greatly disappointed.

It is 2011 people.
It is 2011. We are supposed to have flying cars already. So they are not here yet, but you think a "smart" card reader would be smart enough to work on a Mac, Linux and Windows. Read more
