No longer works with Chromecast on original Kindle fire. The Chromecast just displays an error message on the TV screen that the Netflix app must be updated. I have the most current version installed and can't cast with it any longer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Entertainment App! October 6, 2014
By cmh627
This application downloads relatively quickly and runs very smoothly; it never crashes! I am able to watch a lot of series I need to catch up on on the Netflix app. They have a variety of shows and movies, lots of independent films which are my favorite variety. The only thing I don't like is the length of time it sometimes takes Netflix to pick up a season of a certain show. Other than that, I love the direction this company is taking with starting their very own unique shows. Some of their shows(Orange is The New Black, Arrested Development) are really the only one's I enjoy watching these days. I recommend giving this app a chance, you will not be disappointed!

I'm so irritated that Amazon has disallowed the Kindle to work with Google Chrome Cast. I've been watching netflix through my Kindle via Chrome Cast for MONTHS. And now they are not allowing it anymore. So frustrating. I know its because they want everyone to buy the new Fire TV or whatever, but it doesn't seem fair that you can take it away from people that have already been using it. Sure make new Kindle buyers buy Amazon's cast product, but leave us others alone. I was even considering buying the new Fire HD for Christmas, no way will I do that now. I'll buy an android tablet way before then.

How can there be anything wring with the Netflix app on a Kindle? I'll give one comment to that. Changing users! I literally have to sign out and close the app down. Then when I go back, I now enter password, etc and then pick the user. I guess it's like that for many but I think it's time consuming. There isn't a help or anything. I have to pick pictures for users on my PC. I have not read other comments and I'm not extremely fussy because I'm not very knowledgeable about apps, games, etc. So from my perspective I stand by my opinion and comments. As for watching shows, great! I mean what a joy for kids with the recommendations and more. As an adult in her early 40s I want to show them (kids are 9 & 21) shows that I liked. Put in Flash Dance, nope. Terms of Endearment, nope. For the heavy hitting movie buffs out there I'm sure you know of a one stop shop for all movies. Maybe those movies will come on Netflix then off again. I don't know how it works on PlayStation, my daughter doesn't use it. Anyway, yes Netflix is great. There isn't s drive to bring movies back and forth, late fees and much better than Amizon Prime!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Netflix well worth the low monthly price... August 7, 2014

I dont' subscribe to any movie channels, because it seems they run the same things over and over again and I don't think it is worth the price. I do love movies and there are some tv seasons I would like to see that I don't receive. I talked with a couple of friends and family and they like Netflix. The price was right and I needed a new DVD player. I bought a Samsung Blue Ray DVD Player (that I love, easy to get to Netflix) from Target that was recommended to me. I mostly watch on my TV at home and my grandson uses my Kindle Fire. It has been well worth the low monthly fee!

sometimes when I decide to use my kindle to watch movies rather than using it to read tentacled lorn I start to think. hmmm what should I watch; evil dead where I get to see a tree have its way with a woman, princess jelly fish that has a cross dresser as one of the main character's or oragne is the new black where I get to watch a show that's like oz but with women and semi frontal nudity. decisions. decisions.

5.0 out of 5 stars amazed June 29, 2014

I just purchased this Gen 1 Kindle Fire (used, of course) and am really surprised and amazed at the quality, options, and performance. When I downloaded the Netflix app I honestly was not expecting it to be as good as it is. The color is brilliant and Netflix works wonderfully. I like the way the Netflix page works on the Kindle Fire as well. It is very user friendly. Thanks Netflix and Kindle!
