I bought the Netgear RangeMax DGN3500 as a direct replacement for the 2Wire 2701HG-B for my AT&T DSL line. It works great. Everything has sped up. Everything. Uploads. Downloads. Streaming. All of it. I have 1 Windows computer, 3 Apple Macs, 1 Apple 2Gen AppleTV, PS3, a wireless printer, and a Wii. Not one problem now. Super easy to set up also. You will need to know your actual DSL SYSTEM password (not your eMail password) along with your complete eMail address. If you do not know what the real system password is, you will have to ask AT&T what it is. If you tell them you want to use another modem/router (other then the supplied 2Wire) to connect to their system, they most likely will not tell you YOUR password. So think about that, and take it from there... Tell them what you need too, to get YOUR system password. You pay for it remember. The DGN3500 has worked flawlessly. Not a DSL drop to be found. Not an internet drop either. Solid as a rock. My old 2Wire 2701HG-B dropped my DSL connection a minimum of 30 times a day. And too many to count internet connection drops. I use to think it was my lines. No. It was that 2Wire all along. I am so happy with my Netgear I want to recommend it to everyone!!

I purchased this router based upon 2 great reviews. I am happy that I ordered it. The setup wizard is much easier than other wizards I've used. It shows you step by step pictures and has it written as well. It's like having someone next to you, helping you. I setup my desktop and 3 laptops within minutes... or at least it seemed that way. I downloaded my printer drivers and reinstalled them on all computers.

The nice thing about NetGear, that I have not seen with other vendors, is that when you open the desktop shortcut to view all the modem settings, it automatically checks to see if you have the latest firmware version. If you don't it can auto download it, but THEN (rather than your spending hours unzipping and installing it) it self installs and let's you know when it's done. Man, that was nice and easy.

I would buy this router again and/or recommend it to a friend. Keep in mind that this router is for those that have DSL service. It is a combination of DSL modem and Router in one unit.

Despite what I have read concerning the DGN3500, I have had absolutely no problems that I can attribute to the DGN300. Actually, I have had very few problems at all despite my complicated wired and wireless system. My home network consist of the DGN3500, Netgear WNDA3100 wireless for my notebook, WET610N Linksys for my wireless connection to my DirecTV HDDVR, and a USB to Gigabit Ethernet AX88178 adapter for my wired computer, plus wifi connection for my Iphone4. Everthing works. I used the DGN3500 as a direct replacement for the 2Wire of AT&T because of the greater bandwidth. I now stream HD content between my computer and my HDTV and vice-versa. I have a quad core AMD processor, I believe X4 820. Completely satisfied.

This thing is a beast. I have been throwing my money away for years with the 2Wire units for Att. The latest of which I had for 4 months. I have suffered for 3 years with lost connections, and countless problems... but no more! I am not a tech guy by any means so believe me when I say this thing is a snap to set up. It really is plug and play. I have it set up to run my comp, laptop, brother laser all in one, and blu-ray. So far so good. Speed is amazing and I never get any drops anymore.

The only problem is with Att you need to get info from them if you don't remember it. I had to call, but it wasn't bad. I told them the truth... After explaining my frustrations with their units and telling them I was staying with them as isp, the guy was very nice. He got me the info I needed. But don't expect them to help you troubleshoot or anything. I would suggest if you also have Att, that you call and get the info before you try and install this unit. It wasn't until after all this that I discovered you can reset your password on the phone without talking to a rep at all... As for the user name, it is usually just your email address with Att. Hopefully that will help out some people. Wish I'd have known that ahead of time. Anyway, Att partnered with this Netgear piece is a wonderful combo. So much faster. I tried a speed test and it took me from .78 mbps to 5.7 mbps. Best of all no drops yet! I look forward to watching Mlbtv through this unit come spring.

Compared to other routers, this one was considerably more expensive. The price was not a reflection of the quality. I have been battling this router for 17 months and I am done. Frequent drops and recently it is dropping so often the internet is unusable.

Also, when you go to administer the router it repeatedly ask for the credentials. I put in the correct credentials and the box just keeps popping up. Hit cancel a few times and the administration page appears.

OK, so I read the reviews on this item, and was a little put off by the number of negative reviews. It was about a 60/40 mix of good and bad. Normally I would have maybe found an alternative. Some seemed like maybe they had limited experience hooking up wireless. However, I've had some good experiences with other NG products, and this one has great features for a real good price, so I pulled the trigger.

Bottom Line - it's a great product! Set up was super easy, took all of 10 minutes, and everything was up and running. Great range, I was able to get 5 bars anywhere in my 2 story house. So far seems to be very stable, and faster than my old modem/router separates.

Overall, lots of Pros and no Cons from this reviewer. I'll update you in a couple of months.

Update 12/10 - Unit is absolutely perfect so far, no issues at all. Highly recommended.
