I have bought 5 of these for TiVos that have been hacked. They work instantly and perfectly on Hughes and Samsung Generation 2 DirecTiVos and on TiVo brand Generation 2 stand-alone TiVos.

Unlike the Linksys USB200M, the Ethernet cable is in no danger of falling off the adaptor and the cable at both ends allows for some flexibility in the placement of the adapter, rather than just plugged into the USB ports in the rear of the TiVo units, making it easy to place it so you can check if the lights are on (mine burned out during a lightning strike and I didn't have to pull the TiVo out of the rack to check up on it.

The product also has good fit and finish, which cannot be said for all products in this category and may matter to some.

This is too easy!! If you have a TIVO Series 2 and want to hard wire, use the Netgear FA120.

I bought this just for the fact of hooking an ethernet cable to my Tivo for internet hookup. The wire worked with no problem so I'm very happy with this product. This wire will contribute to updating your Tivo in less than ten minutes.

I bought this adapter to connect TiVo to my home network. After reading the reviews for several adapters, I decided to buy the Netgear. I couldn't be happier. The FA120 worked perfectly out of the box! TiVo instantly recognized the network connection (no software to install). I was up and running in minutes!

Bought a pair of these for my 2 TiVo Series 2 DVRs and it worked great! I originally bought the LinkSys 200M. Those were very flimsy and the ethernet cable kept coming off. Not to mention LinkSys 200Mv2 is NOT compatible with TiVo right now... Returned those, bought these, and wham...perfect... I have them connected to a Netgear Wireless AP/Gateway router/4 port switch and the transfer rate is just slightly faster than the play rate, so I can watch the show while it's transferring; couldn't do that on my 802.11b connections I originally had.

I brought two of these items to network the two Tivo units in my house. They work perfectly for this purpose. I highly recommend these units for those of you trying to use multiple Tivo units.

Purchased this adapter to get connected with two tivo's to my router. Easy plug and play, no software loading required. Would highly recommend as long as you have a series 2 Tivo.

My Netgear FA120 worked well for 6 months, until the circuit board fried. I gave it a 2 because of its large size and detachable (easy to lose) usb cable, plus it failed when I needed it the most. I prefer usb adaptors as a temporary solution only, if possible go with the PCI type.

Like everyone else I read all about the different adapters that would work with my TIVO. I plugged it in and within minutes I was downloading tv shows to my laptop.

I'm also happy I went the wired route since so many people struggle with the wireless adapters with their TIVOs.

Thanks to this review board, I took the advice of other users and bought this adapter without bothering with any other devices. I'm glad I did as I've never had an "installation" go so smoothly. The most difficult part of the install was getting the adapter out of the box. After that, it was a breeze. All plug-n-play.
So, TiVo owners, don't waste your time with any other USB adapter. If you're hard wiring your TiVo DVR, this is the only way to go.
